Does anyone have one of these? My D who has a full time job, travels, and a family has been told by a friend she absolutely needs one of these. She spends one day cooking meals for the following week. This does look like a good solution. https://www.thekitchn.com/i-tried-the-instant-pot-and-heres-what-i-really-think-about-it-8-months-later-226178 |

First I have heard of it. Nearly the same as a crock pot? |

Apparently it also has pressure cooker capabilities, D's friend told her she can have dinner ready in 45 minutes, from freezer to table. I notice many of the younger working generation on my F.B. page have purchased them. |

A friends daughter has something similar called a thermo mix. I think it cost big bickies but they have been happy with it, and the husband can use it when she's away. They live on a farm so the local takeaway is not an option. |

Swing: Wish this was on the market when I was working with teenagers!! Now, it would take me years to learn to operate. The price ($69. plus taxes) sounds like a bargain. |

https://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Instant+Pot The above must've been a special as they are much more expensive than $69.00! |

Guess I am too Trotsky. Nice to come home from work and already smell dinner cooked. Either way you have to get it ready and put it in the pot....before work or after work food smiley 016 |

Guess everyone wants their own Trudashians

Amazon.com is American so priced in U.S. Amazon.ca is Canadian so Canadian dollars, still higher for us so might check it out when I'm down south. I used to have a pressure cooker many years ago, it did speed things up. |

Ive heard of instant pots, but we need fewer, not more, kitchen gadgets. Somehow we have wound up with at least three Cuisinart food processors, plus slow cookers and pressure cookers. A set of really good copper pots would be nice, but not really worth the money. |

Sigmund Freud ("there are no accidents") at work: in packing for my last move, only ONE box fell from the pile I created, and it contained my Kitchen Aide mixer. When I arrived in my NYC home I saw that the metal motor housing had cracked and the linkage was bent all out of shape. I tossed it. Good thing too, I often wonder, had it survived the trip. where the Hell would it go. The only counter space I have free is the couple square feet that I need for preparing meals. We all know how humongous a Kitchen Aide mixer is. Though I regret the couple hundred bucks I spent on it, I do not miss it one iota. Besides, the only thing it did well was make an annual merengue and an occasional very puffy omelet. I have not made a merengue in the 7 years I am in my New York digs and my uber-blender does a fine job on frothing an omelet. I used to make a to-die-for lemon lime merengue pie, so maybe I'll try a merengue with my $14.99 Procter-Silex hand mixer. Edited by Trotsky, Nov 21 2017, 02:38 AM.

So true. Reduce. Reduce. Reduce. Crock pots are a deficient, since the heating element is a ring or band, which creates a hot spot for the food as it cooks. I use a Dutch Oven, steam insert in a pot,and pressure cooker, double boiler for most of my cooking. |

Wrong, it is endless copper polishing. I threw out anything copper years ago because of the work involved. Oh, and you dare not put copper in the dishwasher either. The chlorine in all the dishwashing detergents makes a mess of copper. |
