Does anyone have one of these?

My D who has a full time job, travels, and a family has been told by a friend she absolutely needs one of these. She spends one day cooking meals for the following week. This does look like a good solution.

My sister-in-law's sister-in-law (if you know what I mean) told me at Thanksgiving that she bought one and loves it. She and husband are both retired but she says it saves her time and energy getting a meal ready.

Crock pots are a deficient, since the heating element is a ring or band, which creates a hot spot for the food as it cooks.

Not mine. It cooks perfectly evenly. I have never had a burn spot in the 40 years I have been using it. Mine has the removable ceramic crock.

The only thing I find that creates vicious hot spots is stainless steel (I threw out my stainless Farberware fry-pans.) Stailess steel is a poor heat conductor so all the heat stays right where the flame puts it.

The best cookware is heavy aluminum, preferably non-stick coated.

That instant pot has FAR too many electronically controlled functions. Combine the electronics with heat and it is a recipe for a short life.

Guess everyone wants their own Trudashians
I've never had a problem with my slow cooker(s) of which I have two. A regular sized cooker and a small one I use more often.

If I can find that pot at a cheaper price when I'm in the U.S. I might get it.

I to have found that my crockpot always cooks evenly and has never burnt.
I rarely use mine anymore as it is the larger one. I will keep an eye out for a small one. We do get them quite often at work
mostly the larger ones though.

'Cult-like worshippers' turn Canadian-invented Instant Pot into a phenomenon

A Canadian innovation is poised to be the top-selling product on Amazon — both in Canada and the U.S. — during this week's Black Friday sales event.

The Instant Pot "smart cooker" — a high-tech pressure cooker that promises to help you make tasty, homemade meals fast — was already the biggest seller on Amazon's Prime Day this past July. Close to 250,000 units were purchased on that day alone.

Only Amazon's own products, such as the Echo smart speaker, saw a bigger response from consumers. But Robert Wang, the Ottawa-based inventor of the Instant Pot, still considers his product's performance a triumph — and one that's about to be repeated.

"It's impossible to beat the sales numbers of Amazon devices on Amazon's own day," said Wang. It's no surprise that the e-commerce giant features its own merchandise more prominently than anything else. Even so, he was thrilled to be at the top of the charts.

My ancient crock pot works great - no hot spots.

I admit this Instant Pot caught my attention. I rarely ever get attracted to the ‘hot’ item of the Christmas season.

Best Buy had their VIP sale today. The pots were $69.95. All I could see was a lot of little nooks and crannies that would need cleaning. The pot stayed in the store.

If I was younger and working I would definitely buy one, I am not, so won't. I could buy my D one for Christmas but do I want to venture to Best Buy today, I think not! It's raining here, froze last night so walking, driving is treacherous.

We were going to go to Herald Square yesterday (Macy's Original store, Penney's, and Jack's) and then realized that it was wiser to avoid the shitstorm of shopping mobs than to search out a bargain. Actually, there is nothing we really need.
