I used outlook express for years and was quite happy until it was no longer part o the operating system. I have been using one of the many types from the internet and found it a pain in the ass. Finally somebody has brought back a similar to the old outlook express. Here it is for about 30 dollars. New Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail replacement - get it here: http://www.oeclassic.com/ |

It probably works well, but IMO $30 is pretty steep . I have Win 10 and use either the Windows mail or most times the online sites for Outlook.com and Gmail. I don't like downloading email to my PC or tablet, so using their servers to store mail suits my purpose and anything saved is protected from my PC crashing or infecting it with malware. The only mail I download are personal documents such are income tax, bank notifications, or Revenue Canada, then I can save them in my off line storage and they don't sit on a server that can be hacked. |

I thought 30 was reasonable for a lifetime product. I got it and found it is almost identical to the old outlook express. I dislike fiddling on a simple application. All the freebies have issues in my experience. |

Yeah, Until it gets discontinued. Outlook Express was a LIFETIME product. Windows MAIL was a LIFETIME product. Both Gone now along with my lifetime gym membership. Silly me, presuming it meant MY lifetime instead of THEIRS. |

Most free programs are rife with advertising and slow responses to any issues. In sites like Giveawayoftheday, the programs are usually last year's versions, or some startup that wants the public to test it for them. Most times I steer away from unknowns, but there are some reputable freebees out there, they just not full featured and have advertising. I'm sure somewhere in the fine print and user terms of agreement, lifetime actually has a default value.
