Putting together an Ikea Bed; Has anyone done this?

It has been ages since I had to put together anything from IKEA. It must have been fairly easy as it was just me and three not so helpful children! Just follow the diagrams. These days I usually have my now adult daughter do such things - she is a whiz at putting together all sorts of furniture.

Olive, I hope you had the Swedish Meatballs.
Love those meatballs especially with their bottled berry sauce and packet gravy. . Haven't tried the chicken or veggie ones yet.

I assembled one of those from Sears. It was a little complicated and I added some shims to support the middle of the bed at the back of the drawers. It is way nicer than the old bed with things stuffed under it, many lost for years.

We picked up the bed Sunday and son in law said he would do help out for the heavy parts. He ended up doing much of the work and daughter and I put together the drawers, sorted out fasteners, put screws in holes so he could use his power screw driver. It was a very pleasant experience, taking about 2 hours. On my own, I think the biggest problem would have been all the kneeling and lifting. . Son in law did a wonderful job. The cost was 334.00.on sale.

I am more than pleased with the results. The bed was a great quality, and all the fasteners and pre-drilled holes were dead on. All pieces were pristine and instructions were very clear drawings. I didn't realize that they use low fuming glue, etc. We actually had a great time with it. I took them out for dinner after .

I am eager to put together a night stand on my own which would be a good novice project. I eventually want to get a dresser .

The mattress was ordered from Sleep Country and was on sale for 700.00. I tried out some in the store and it felt like the right firmness. It came yesterday and last night was my first sleep on it. No breaking in period, I loved it and found I didn't toss and turn like I usually do. The sheets and blankets actually stayed in place when before, they ended up on the floor or in a tangled ball.
The drawers are very large and my job today is to fill them and sort out the linen closet. The pictures I took were too dark but I'll get daughter to help me get some good ones. There must be a trick to taking pictures when there's no room to back up.

I learned two things when putting something together or having it done for me. There should not be anyone around me if I am doing the job. If Someone helps me I should not be around.

I have found the same thing for me, too! For some reason a second opinion just muddles the situation.

As a footnote, I assembled all my kitchen cabinets that I have at my place. I checked IKEA for pricing but bought an American product offered by Home Depot for a substantial saving,
