Absolutely childish and an embarrassment to Canada. The USA/Canada hockey Olympics gave the win to the USA and one Canadian player from Canada was not satisfied with her silver medal and immediately removed it. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/winter-olympics/at-medal-ceremony-after-loss-to-usa-canadian-player-immediately-yanks-silver-off-her-neck/ar-BBJrxg5?li=AAggNb9&lang=en-ca |

Ah give her a break. It's about time that myth about Canadians being so polite was abolished. It's not the first time an athlete has discarded their silver medal when they wanted the gold. |

Nope, not giving her a break. No good reason for bad sportsmanship in this instance. |

She has apologized. I really think it was done in the heat of the moment kind of thing so I am willing to give her a break. A bitter disappointment and a lesson well learned. |

Didn't hear much about this. A Swedish junior hockey player threw his silver medal into the stands after losing a championship game. His claim was that the guy in the stands wanted it more than him. And he didn't apologize. |

In my mind the act was a protest against the unfair officiating that took place resulting in several penalty's being served by the Canadians. Being short handed tires a team and leaves them more vulnerable. For instance, two of the penalty's happened when a Canadian member struck the stick of the opposition and the stick was dropped, either by intent or lack of concentration. No bodily action was taken and this a stupid rule that allows the opposition to play injured, in order to gain an advantage. Behavior which is often seen in the sport of soccer. My feeling: When you win a medal you are free to do with it whatever you wish. |

Yes, I saw that, but hadn't heard it commented on until now. I think the team players need to agree ahead of time that win or lose, you display good sportsmanship and graciously accept what is given to you. Everyone should realize that these teams were very evenly matched and for this reason it could have gone either way. Consequently, a silver medal should hold as much importance as a gold. Unfortunately, there always has to be only one winner. |

In my book they are all winners. It took a lot of commitment and training to get there so therefore all of the teams are winners. To bad it is not looked at that way. |

Good sportsmanship is a bunch of crap! This wasn't a Saturday night playing scrabble with your friends. This was the culmination of many years of hard work by the contestants and the last thing that should be accepted is poor officiating by the game officials. In the past we have seen where Olympic officials have been bribed before, and who's to say that skulduggery hasn't been a factor. I admire the young ladies fortitude and for standing forward in this regard. Too bad that the whole team didn't follow suit! |

I didn't watch the game so know nothing about the officiating. I'm sure there are things like this going on. If it was obvious, then I understand the frustration and disgust. |

There will be another meeting of these teams. It's a real rivalry between Canada and the United States and a loss is tough to take. Hockey is such an intense sport. I have never seen women fight in any other sport except hockey. Punches flying. |
