I am coming to the end of yet another drinking month, so I went to my favorite wine store, Mr. Wright, a couple blocks away to pick up some Vino. I had been drinking ASTICA, Malbec for a year or more, so I thought I would try another taste. Last year a friend gave us a bottle of Montepulciano so the name stuck. At the front door of the wine store they had Di Lorenzo Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and I thought, why not. So I bought a MAGNUM for $9.99 <imagine.> The wine is delicious, a South Tuscan red, and the price is unreal:

And I got a magnum <TWO bottle's worth> for $10 bucks.

Depressing it can. be. I usually use 5 days of valium to kick any possibility of withdrawal symptoms, like DT's, jitteriness. etc. I have thought often of changing my system but this seems to work so I don't want to fuck it up. It gives me SOME measure of control over the abyss.

Last few days of every wet month I use self hypnosis techniques to prepare me for the desert to come.

I should buy a case of the Tuscan red at that terrific price, while it exists, but I don't trust myself to leave it in the house until August 1.

Whatever works for you, works. I enjoy an afternoon 🍺 too much to give it up for any longer than a couple days. I rarely have more than a couple light beer and a glass of wine, haven't had a hangover in probably 5 years. I'm mid 70s, so far, so good.

If I could say that, my drinking would never give me a second thought, but I can and do consume orders of magnitude beyond that. I never get hangovers either, nor do I ever get drunk but only because I have too great a tolerance for C2H5OH.

I have tried so many moderate drinking controls, but this is the only way I have had any success.
