Thank you everyone. Your thoughts and prayers have helped more than you know. Katie is resting now, but breathing very shallowly. At least we know she is pain free, and surrounded by her family, and "siblings". She is much beloved in our family... and we'll miss her something terrible. I'm so glad we had today, just to love her, and hug her. She's very calm and resting. I don't think she will last through the night, but I'm not crying any more. She is going to soon be free of the cancer, running happily around Heaven, stealing the bones from all the other dogs. Please keep her in your thoughts.

Oh Vicki: It is hard to see a much loved member of a family suffer. One of our cats had cancer and it one of the hardest things my children and I went through. I will be thinking of you and your Katie.

Vicki, You and Katie are in my thoughts and prayers. The pets are part of the families and it is sad to see any loss of life. I am sure you have done all you can for her.

Morning everyone. Thank you again for all your kind words. Katie is still with us. Her little heart just hasn't given up yet. She wakened this morning, weak but wanting water, but no food. We carried her outside (she loves the grass, and it's her morning ritual to go out around 6). She was able to stand, and use the bathroom. She's back sleeping now. I've given her another sedative. I can't bear for her breathing to be so labored, and the med seems to help that.

Twinsmum, the poem your daughter wrote has gone through my mind a million times. It's such a perfect expression of a our feelings right now...confusion, fear, love, etc....and it's helping us get to that point, though I can hardly bear to think of it. I've spoken to our vet, and he says he can come to our home, if and when we need him.

I feel like I'm delaying the inevitable but I just don't want her in any pain at all. It's a blessing for us to still have her here, and she isn't giving up yet. I thought she was gone yesterday for sure. Please keep us in your thoughts.

Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers. They have helped more than you know...both Katie and my family.

Vicki, I feel so badly for you. As long as Katie is not in any pain, that is the important thing right now.
I am thinking of you!
