Trixie's Pooch Party pawsitively a hit

BEDFORD - The Williams home hasn't been the same since Trixie arrived. So a few weeks ago, the always affectionate, black-and-white pooch was given a party, just for being Trixie.

“She has brought so much joy to our lives,” said Tracy Williams. “What better way to celebrate that.”

So Williams and her daughters, Liza, 9, and Margee, 7, invited their friends and Trixie's friends to Trixie's Pooch Party.

The back yard was the setting for the celebration. Guests wore pink and black, Trixie's favorite colors. Guests included poodles, Yorkies, a dachshund and a couple of shi tzus. They were treated to homemade dog treats made by Williams and her sister-in-law. The human guests snacked on cupcakes.

Trixie and her friends enjoyed an obstacle course that featured jumping over a small step, leaping through a Hula Hoop and running around cones. Other guests made picture frames, and photos were taken of all the guests as a keepsake for the day.

The party wrapped up with a festive pet parade down 14th Street featuring the nine dogs and 22 people who attended.

“The dogs were so well behaved,” Williams said.

Before Trixie came to live with the Williams family, she belonged to Virginia Williams, grandmother of John, Tracy's husband. Trixie, who is part shi tzu, was living at the White River Humane Society when John adopted her for his mother. Trixie was a constant and devoted companion to Virginia, Tracy said. When Virginia passed away in 2005, she came to live with them.
