I know Logan does geo-caching. Any other cachers here in WWS. We got into this about a year ago when Ron got a GPS to stake gold claims :): We have done a lot of caches and find it does take you out to places you did not know existed. I picked up a racing coin that came from Holland. I deposited in a cache called the "Dutch Touch"...just the spot for it..some one picked it up and he was headed to Korea to teach so now it is over there in Asia somewhere. I will get to follow it along when it gets moved from place to place. We are having a lot of fun, and it does get addicting...get out there and find that cache!!! |

I've never been involved in geo caching Shirley, but I know a lot of people do it here in NZ. My experience has been only in orienteering - 'cunning running with a map and compass' - which I used to teach and take part in at a seniors level. |

Whew agate!! that looks like some trail! The kids have been clamoring to get out and try finding some caches. I think it has gotten cool enough for us to get out there and try it maybe next weekend. Haven't been as active in it as I would like. The last cache we found was at a boat landing in a public park area, deep in the woods just off a walking trail. It was about 100 degrees F that day. But we found it in an old army ammo can covered wtih some Spanish Moss. Ron |

Sunday's geo-caching... You need to be really sneaky and not let any muggles see you retrieve the cache. Posted Image this can become very difficult in a busy park!!! |

Boy are addicted or what. We were out Friday, Saturday & Sunday :): in the rain!!! We got 3 first to finds Friday which means we found it first before anyone else. These were the first ones for us so we were happy cachers. Got 2 on Saturday and sunday was a wash out. Had 3 to find and could not find a one... The last one was a 3 part one and when we finally got to the last spot we could not fing the cache. Needless to say we were choked!!! Oh well there is always the next one. :): |

OK...here is the info... It is in Elerslie, Auckland. The log says it is hidden in a park near central Ackland and is near a football field. The cache is near a fallen log and is hidden in a glass container, which by the way is a no no. If you back to my post on Oct 20th, that is where we found the coin. It is a Canadian geo coin. Are you any where near this place Alan? Try this link to see the coords... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?WP=GCXZ8C |

I'm at the southern end of the North Island in Wellington, Auckland is up near the top - Ellerslie is the part of Auckland where the biggest most spectacular flower/garden show in the southern hemisphere is held (finished just last week). Best designers usually compete at Chelsea and Melbourne. Why is hidden in glass a no-no? |
