We arrived home very early Tuesday ( 1 am ) from our week in Cuba.

Was a sun filled fantastic weekPosted Imagespent as much time here as possible.

We did an all day ( 16 hours ) tour of Havana. We toured Old Havana, Havana Club (Rum), had a wonderful lunch and then dinner at a 5 star hotel. Included in the trip was a night at the famous Tropican :action: Was a fantastic show. Amazing dancing and very colourful costumes...absolutely loved it.

I am going to try and post Ron's link here at webshots where he has put all his pictures. I have not got mine all done yet bauble

Glad you are back safe and sound (and no doubt sunburned). We missed your shining face and look forward to hearing all about your trip and seeing the pics.

In order to get there, I assume you had to fly to a US airport and switch planes. How did US Customs treat you?

Thanks Time...no burn , only a tan santa3

Our flight was direct from Vancouver to Cuba..7 hour flight.
Very relaxed getting back on the plane in Cuba. Was able to bring water bottles on the plane that we bought outside the airport.

The whole atmosphere was much more relaxed than when I was there in 1999. At that time there where soldiers at the airport with rifles and also on the streets in Havana. This time there was not.

US citizens are barred from entering Cuba. It's the embargo you know.

I have met many Americans there who travel from Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Quebec City. For those in the southern States, they can either fly to the Bahamas, Mexico or Cancun for direct flights to Habana.

Cuban Immigration will not stamp US passports.

This is the "Land of the Free" - about the only country that has banned it's citizens from ever setting foot on Cuban soil. The Chinese have built a hotel at Varadero and their tourists will soon be staying there.

Will be returning in February for my 15th visit.

They did not stamp our Canadian passports neither. This is a curteousy to us as apparently you can be refused entry in the USA if you have a Cuban stamp.

I'd LOVE to go to Cuba, but don't need any FBI hassling.

In the United States, all this FREEDOM that is harangued about doesn't apply to travel.
Castro is a "Communist" and that means he is evil and that means we can't be exposed to Cuba lest the idea of sharing the resources of the Earth gets too pervasive.

Worse than Communist though, he tossed the Mafia and its casinos out on it's collective ear...that just ISN'T done in a properly capitalistic country. :whoohoo:

So the closest we can get to Cuba is Puerto Rico...nice too.

Actually that is the root of my concern about entering the US either coming or going from Cuba. I'm a Canadian citizen but I immigrated from the US. I was born in the US, so I'm also a US citizen. When I became a Canadian citizen, I renounced my US citizenship, but the US doesn't recognize that renouncement.

Agate, Ocali, and Alphamale have set my mind at ease on that.
