What does the .co.nr mean? Wikipedia says ".nr is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Nauru." Nauru is a country in the south pacific. I guess they are making a few bucks selling domain names? I would think a .org name would be more appropriate. Cost is about $20 a year. |

Hi Delphi This is a free domain we are using, not a paid one. WWS is not a business, we are a private site that I pay for extra space on. We do not make any money from the forum whatsoever. I am unable at this time to pay for domain names. As we are worldwide I don't think it matters which country the domain is from, but if I buy one in the future I will go for .com or most probably .net |

Ann, thank you very much for setting up and looking after this forum! Three cheers for doing it non-commercially. I guess the ads are from invisionfree, who provide the software and website. |

Yes Delphi the ads are from Invision. It is a free site but we pay for extra space. When I save my pennies up will change it so that no ads are there. |

I will gladly donate all the space you need. Some time back, one of the previous admins said he had registered WorldWideSeniors.net for the group. Unfortunately, I guess that didn't happen and that URL now redirects people to another group. To prevent that from happening again, I have registered the domains, WorldWideSeniors.org and Worldwide-Seniors.com, both of which I would like to donate to the group. This group really should have its own domain and its own forum so that you can attract more members and be found easily in Google, along with the associated page rank, which is at 0/10 right now. Even if you kept using Google Adsense, which everyone is used to anyway, it would help to cover server and software costs in the future. Donations or auctions and other methods of recuperating expenses would do the rest. My offer is without conditions. I've already paid for the server until March 2009 (it's a shared server, so I will have access). The domain names are paid up until this time next year and I will transfer ownership to WWS, as long as it isn't to a single person, at any time and you can use my server, or move the domain to any other you choose (at your own expense). I used to have a license to the forum software you are using. I don't know if it was a lifetime license, or a perpetual license, but I have sent an email to determine my license status. If it is still active, I will throw it in too. If you want, I will be happy to set the forum and website up for you, convert the data to the new site and get you going. No obligation. You can take all or part of the offer, or none at all. It's just an offer and I'm not looking for anything in return (maybe a link in the footer if I do any substantial work on it, since I do this kind of work for a living). Sorry for bringing up an old topic. There was a similar discussion a couple years ago that was ignored, so I thought new people might be interested in a forward-looking idea. R'gards, Grump |

I was hoping to see a little discussion of the suggestions and offer. Here is a starting point: www.WorldWideSeniors.org I think it's important for the members to be involved in the future plans of their site. R'gards. |
