A happy ending to this story.

ctvbc.ca

Linnea Pearson and her three girls had been looking for Nanook, their malamute cross, since he disappeared from the family's back yard 20 days ago.

They had put up posters and scoured the neighbourhoods of Fort St. John. But the one place no one checked until last night was down a manhole.

"We'd been looking, put up posters," said Pearson.

But then they got an unbelievable call from Animal Control: Someone had removed a manhole cover from the entrance to the sewer, and Nanook had fallen 15 feet down.

The dog had survived without food and with only a little water for more than 20 days.

The ordeal left him 45 pounds lighter, and Nanook shows visible signs of his struggle to get out.

Linda is relieved to have her prized pet back, but wonders why the manhole was left open at all.

Nanook is expected to make a full recovery, with a little tender loving care from the Pearson family.

I love happy endings when an animal gets in trouble. I've helped a couple of them myself. :dog:
