Posted Image Three 9-day-old Sumatran tiger cubs wait for their first health exam, Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the San Francisco Zoo in San Francisco. The 4-pound male cubs were born at the San Francisco Zoo, to Leanne, a 230-pound Sumatran tiger. This is the first litter for the 5-year-old mom and 10-year-old dad, named George. They really are great! Makes you wonder about their future though...... I happened to see part of the news the other day which included an item about an Indian Tiger, meeting Indian villagers!!!! The pressure of population has pushed the villagers padi fields into the Tiger's territory........this poor Tiger, huge though he was, was pursued relentlessly by what seemed thousands of screaming, rock throwing, stick bashing villagers, until it was netted and caugh, by game wardenst. Hauled into a boat and taken deeper into the game reserve away from the villagers. Its a wonder that the poor animal didn't die from a heart attack!!!! |
