Perhaps the final wound to VISTA was just administered by INTEL who has decided AGAINST upgrading their 80,000 Windows based computers to the VISTA operating program after an intensive internal investigation of the operating system. Vista has drawn fire from users as a "buggy, bloated program that requires costly hardware upgrades to run smoothly."

One can presume that INTEL has made the decsion very carefully because of it's close relationship with Microsoft.

Is it EVER worth upgrading the operating system?
Personally, I wish they would put the OS in ROM so you don't have to wait for it to load and no malware can ever change it. If I want a new OS, I'll buy a new computer with it.

That's true Delphi,
It seems logical that a new machine is geared to run well with the particular OS that is installed. As a few years go by, a NEW OS is apt to be a poor match to the old computer.
My computer ran like greased lightning with it's original Windows ME (I know everybody else HATED Win ME...but I LOVED it...best thing MSoft has ever issued IMHO.)

When forced to upgrade to Win XP because all operipeheral programs stopped supporting Win ME when MSoft pulled the plug things deteriorated for me markedly.

Is ANYTHING more infuriating than being told that "WinXP (or WinVISTA) doesn't support your scanner software, your anti-virus, your CDWriter <I LOVED my old Roxio but won't toss another $100 for a new one> and on and on. And all this just to get an OS that makes things SLOWER?????

The time for a new OS is when it comes installed on your new computer, like you said. But VISTA seems even to belie this, witnessing the number of people REMOVING it from new computers and "downgrading" to XP (or a Linux freebie.)

And boy, if ANYONE should know what a bad operating system is, it must certainly be INTEL CORP.
