Thanks, Shirley. I always 'lurk' in here occasionally. But generally have nothing to add. Julie |

Another IBS suffer here - on and off for years. Kept a log of food eaten and just when I thought I had the culprit to avoid, the IBS crops up again. Avoided coffee on an empty stomach, garlic, onions, rich foods. I tried the probiotic supplement and kefir with some temporary relief. I am wondering if it is "city" living - have been on the Island for a month and only had 2 or 3 bouts. I threw caution to the wind and drink coffee first thing in the morning and eat lots of fresh organic foods (including garlic and onions). |

Let me add another thing to the colon discussion. Extra fiber will provide relief and MANY people are not happy without a dose of Metamucil (or a cheaper store brand psyllium) every day. Although billed as as a laxative, what they really are is a colon filler and a full colon is a happy one. WhatEVER your colonic problem, a dose or two of extra soluble fiber every day will make it better. |

I wonder where is Purley, maybe she is in another forum, I hope she is doing well. But... I guess nobody noticed, where she said, that, she had forgotten, that, she had posted this problem here, and, that, she was moving it, to alternative medicine forum. Maybe she comes, checks that thread, sees no responses and goes in her merry or not so merry way.. I was going to buy a bottle of Metamucil, as I read, that, fiber helps to lose weight, but the jar, came with a lot of warnings, impacted stools and other nasty things that could happen to the unwary. I think I stay with the all bran, and fruits and veggies. |

I also use BeneFiber...and, started taking Align just a week ago. The gastro doctor recommended it. I believe it took about 5 days to finally kick in. Thanks for the invite, Shirley, to the coffee bar. You may see me there one day. :-) |
