Now the ecos have calculated that your dog has the same carbon footprint as your car!
Pets are only eco-friendly if you eat them.

Hmm, people must be much worse than dogs - people have dogs AND cars.

Dogs are a blight...like cockroaches.

I got into an elevator yesterday with a 125 pound German shepherd...like a small person and of course his diet is all meat.

People with dogs should have a 10% surtax addeed to their income tax PER DOG.

I moved into a complex with a strict no pet clause in the lease...it's ignored so now. So a rough estimate is 5,000 dogs with 5,000 lumps of shit to dispose of daily.

So I take back my first line, cockroaches are FAR more eco friendly.

Cost of owning a 50 pound dog in the suburban the midwest U.S.:

Total over the life of a 14 year old dog
LOW: $4,242.00
AUTHOR'S COST: $12,468.00
HIGH: $38,905.00

It is not uncommon to see some of these numbers double or triple in places like New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Dallas. Now granted most people do not end up spending $40,000 on their dog, but some spend a whole lot more.

Neighbor just spent $5000 for a hip replacement for an aging Airdale...this after dropping $6 grand last year on cancer surgery. To get his weight down they were advised to feed him ONLY steaks and DO...he likes Porterhouse and T-bone, which they cannot affford for THEMSELVES. THe dog is supported completely by a combination of VISA and MASTER CARD accounts.

Victor Meldrew is my HERO! I'd vote for him for president in a heartbeat. And Margaret as first lady.
(I actually chatted in New York with Mrs. Warboys...Doreen Mantle)

In a world where millions are starving to death, pet dogs are an obscenity as are the third, fourth and fifth child.
