Begete-Justicette ..... I don't know if you saw it or not, but I posted the broccoli casserole recipe. Yesterday was another long day. I left here at 8:15 and drove to Dana's, and we went to the apartment. I am so glad I listened to you folks and did not srub all the walls because they definitely do have to be steamed. Glad I did the clothes though as they are already to put in a charity box. Dana is going to take a few pieces of furniture, and we disposed of a lot of things yesterday. However, there is a note in the refuse room that says to put bulky items out back, and all we saw were recycling containers. I was reading in January's thread about her ex neighbour and papers everywhere. I brought home 5 grocery store bags full of papers with many dating back 30 years. It took me hours to go through them all and decide what might be needed and was worth saving. This morning I have been on the phone with all the government offices, and found all the people to be helpful - that is after a long wait for a real person. Rogers Cable was so much better to deal with than Bell as they are making an exception and do not even want the notice of death whereas I have to take it to a Bell store. It has been my experience that memory sure is not what it normally is after a close death and not only in the early days but for some time to come, and this is my 4th experience. This morning I went out through the garage, and darned if the code would come to me, and I have been entering it for 6 years. Went to pour my OJ into a glass, and covered the counter. laugh123 Mitzy is doing great at my daughter's, and I saw how good Tyson (Golden) is with her. She does take off, and he'll chase her, but then she comes back for more so perhaps she will shed a pound or two which is much needed. We will take her to the vet Saturday to have her checked over. We discovered she is 7-1/2 as Dana found the adoption papers from Toronto Humane Society when she was 6 months old. I believe she was 3 when she came to Ray, and he had her for 4 years. She is a pretty cat and very cuddly. Take care, Pat |

Hi there ..... First off, thank you Fuzzyo for thinking of me, and thank you Liz for letting Fuzzyo know that I am A-ok. I have to say that my friends Maggie07 and Liz have helped me so much over the past month. Yes, it has been a month. It is the cyber friends we meet and share phone numbers and addresses with who make us realize they are REAL people. No .... I am not saying we should do that with everyone, but sometimes we email with an individual for a couple of years, and they still do not want to do that. That is fine, but if there is one thing I have learned in the month of April is if a long time cyber friend does not want to at least call in time of need, they are no longer in my email addy. I am what I am, and anyone who has met me knows that for a fact. I do have to say that yesterday and today have been such very sad days. Yesterday, I went to Ray's bank to close the account, and believe me, it ain't easy when there is no will, but then Ray had nothing. My son in law, Gary, drove me down, and on the way I asked him if he would ever get another Berner after the loss of Louie. I could tell I upset him as Louie was his first dog, and I have to say Bernese Mountain Dogs have that special bond with their humans. Anyway, Gary asked me if I would write to Louie's breeder, and I knew from the choke in his voice that he had been unable to do it. I did, and had a nice reply today from Lynda, the breeder. Oh and also, the oncologist at the hospital here in Mississauga who cared for Louie had contributed to Guelph University on Louie's behalf, and Gary and Kim received a lovely letter from the Associate Dean of Guelph University. Today I went to the apartment to see what my older daughter had left behind, and I tied up comforters so they fit more easily into green garbage bags. Unfortunately, the Supt. had left for another location so, after checking the mail, I left the keys and something to thank him in the Drop Box. Ray and I were like oil and water. If he said something was white, I would say it was black and so forth. Still, there was nothing I would not do for him, and while he did not have any money, I know he would have stood behind me. Cannot ask for much more than that can we? We always discussed politics, and I never tune into Power Play or Question Period that I do not think of Ray. For the next while, I will not be posting. One cyber acquaintance said that since I was so busy she did not see how I could post as I did. Just look at the number of posts I have. I know most of this thread has not been about our dogs, but I do have to say they are what 'ground me' and I consider myself rich that they are part of my life. Take care, Pat |

Pat it was so good to see you back, even just for a moment. While I understand your taking a break, selfishly I hope it won't be a long one. Please take care |

It's good to take a break, Pat. You have so much to process and adjust to. You need time and the closeness of good friends and family now. Be easy. |

Hi everyone, and Kahu I am in fine this morning so something funny must have happened that it said I was a guest last night. All week I was at the lake, and had such a good time. All my friends, outside of cyber friends, live in the Kawarthas so I was out quite a bit, and am now back home and in charge of the doggies for 2-1/2 weeks as Gary and Kim left last night on their Mediterranean cruise. Yesterday Montana and I were up at 4:30, and I had the laundry hung out by 6 a.m. and walked first with her and then with my friend Angie.By the time I got home yesterday afternoon I was bushed. If I thought I was tired yesterday, it was nothing to the way I feel today. At 9:30 I decided I had to call it a day so gathered up my furry friends, and we headed upstairs as I had decided to sleep in G&K's room which their dogs are used to. I went to sleep the minute my head hit the pillow .... but not for long. At 11 Savannah decided she wanted out of the room so up I got and she and Montana went downstairs and outside. I was not too thrilled with this exercise I can tell you. The same thing happened at 2 a.m. Harley did not move from the bed either time. Gary quickly showed me how to put the prong collar together, but guess what? I forget! I tried, but it just will not go together properly. I believe Mandy (granddaughter) is coming to exercise tomorrow, and she does know how to do it so she can take Savannah for a walk. She is much more able to hold her if she decides she wants to see another dog. Savannah did not eat all her food this morning, and of course, was guarding it when Montana wanted to walk by even though I had put her food up on the counter. Gary and Kim took 4 large bags. Because Kim is an Elite flyer with AC, she can take more luggage than some. She only took 4 pair of shoes, but get this .... Gary took 10 pair!!!! Last month Kim, Gary's sister and I went to San Francisco and Napa for Mother's Day weekend and had a blast. However, we never stopped, and it took me two days to recover once we were home. :sign10: Also went to see Rock of Ages before it premiered, and was surprised to see Aaron Walpole of the third season of Canadian Idol playing a prominent role, and he was so good. Gosh, I seem to have written a book here. Take care, Pat |
