Hey, welcome Reditall, it's about time you found us. I know you are not from Perth LOL
Thank you FSG. Mistakes and misunderstandings are are easy to come by in this environment. Perth is a fine old town and I suspect anyone coming from Perth is proud of the place.

Welcome Reditall,

I guess that Kahu somehow got the idea you were from Perth as that is what he posted.
Thanks Darcie. I remember the avatar.
Why would Kahu think you are from Perth? Did you tell him you were from Perth? Can't figure out why he would think that, he is not even from Canada and probably has no idea it exists (I may be wrong)

Guess everyone wants their own Trudashians
Kahu is probably checking IPs, but that is not always an accurate reflection of where the member lives. My IP number used to come from a city hours and miles away from where I actually live , then it changed to reflect an area North of where I am.

IP locators sometimes will put all IP addresses owned by that ISP to the same city, making it geographically inaccurate. They also can be unreliable if your IP address has not been added into to the site of the locator’s database.

Maybe it would be better not to announce the supposed city, but just province and country.

Geez. Welcome Red. It's about time, wherever the heck you are from. biggrin 04

One of these days, will you please give us a lesson on IP addresses? I, for one, have no idea what they signify, etc. 017

Thanks b_J.

Most of whatever you want to know about IP Addresses may be found in this Wikipedia article. You can safely ignore the technical stuff about the new version 6 system.

Apologies to all concerned ..... I do use an IP checker when I'm validating new members, and I am aware too that, that check only gives a general location. In my own case the IP address indicates me being in Auckland when I'm really no where near there. I use the format in the Greeting thread because I considered it reasonably brief, warm and welcoming and in the context of WORLDWIDE SENIORS location is important.
