Last week they said it was just the renal dry cat foods. Suspected salmonella. Got a call from my vet today and the recall is now on all the Iams brand dry foods. I really have to wonder if my recent visits and there have been a number of them recently are due to this. If anyone has the food, throw it out and ask for a refund. The number to call is 1- 877- 340-8823 |

These Iams and Eukanuba pet foods are only sold in veterinary offices. I was a little alarmed when I saw it had been expanded as I just purchased a 40 lb. bag of Iams for my daughter's Golden last week. http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/features/mutts/blog/2010/08/pet_food_recall_expands_to_euk.html Take care, Pat Oops ..... see that they are also sold in specialty pet retailers throughout the United States and Canada. Again? This was the same thing that happened a couple of years ago with so many pets becoming ill. I nearly bought Lucy Iam's the other day. Glad I didn't now! |

But if it is Iams you buy in a large box store like Pet Smart for instance, it is not affected as it is not made in the same facility that makes the products sold by veterinarians and speciality pet stores like Pet Valu and Global Pets. The pet food contamination in 2007 was from melamine found in wheat gluten shipped from China. Thousands of pets were lost due to renal failure Take care, Pat |

Our dog has always eaten Iams but purchase it at Pet Smart. I hadn't heard of this recall. Lees post didn't indicate it was only Iams purchased from the vets. I was ready to call Pet Smart ~ Thanks for the info Pat. |

MIL's schnauzer ate Iams exclusively. When we took him to the vet he had 21 teeth removed. Vet said that is fairly common with Iams. |
