Yesterday evening, something was definitely tromping on my roof! oooh 02 Sounded loud enough to be a bear - but was likely just a raccoon - the roof acts as a sort of drum, making things sound louder. And I imagine even a smallish bear would shake the house a bit! signs081 Never had raccoons on the roof before, though. nainai |

Nainai, I was watching Nova last night and there was an advertisement for a future show. On the roof of a garden shed there was about 7 raccoons, so maybe that is what it was. They do try to get into attics I understand at this time of the year. At least that is what it said. |

We live in a mobile home and even though it's a fairly new model I'm sure the insulation is not the greatest. Sitting at the computer the other afternoon I thought my husband had decided to climb up and check out the skylights but when I went out to check it was two crows parading around on the roof! |

One of my sisters fosters abandoned baby raccoons and squirrels (the mother is usually hit by a car or killed by dogs). Most of her charges come from people's attics or under their crawl spaces. As Darcie noted, at this time of year, they're looking for warm places to den for the winter and raise babies in the spring. If you don't want unexpected guests (a mama raccoon fell through my girlfriend's bedroom ceiling and onto her bed one night a couple of years ago) make sure your roof doesn't have any exploitable weak spots. |

Its a little early for Christmas! Is it possible that Santa has been out on a training run? biggrin 04 Rudolph is getting to be a little long in the tooth, so maybe he needs to break in a new lead reindeer! :roflol:: |
