A nice video of a special young man and how he played Mom with a baby hummingbird.

Love it!!

Last year I "rescued" an adult hummingbird that flew into our garage and got caught in the deep window. I cupped it in my hands and took it outside. It still follows me everywhere when I am outside. It's a rufus, so I hope it will be back next spring.

I cannot watch videos on the computer in the middle of nowhere Texas, but I can share a few hummer pictures.

The first two are hummers that flew into our back window. They were stunned and on the ground when I picked them up. I held them both to the feeder until they drank enough to flutter off. Both birds are Ruby Throated, but are either juveniles or females.

The last is a male Ruby Throated. We also get Buff Bellied, although it is unusual to get them in our area. They are a little larger than the Rubies and sound like high power electric line static.

Begete, Wasn't it just amazing to be able to hold one of these precious creatures in your hands!

Bitsy, Thank you for the compliment, but its just luck and an overwhelming love of nature.

Yikes! Where did they go? I will put them back in . . . hopefully!

Michael tells me our server is down, so I will have to wait until it goes back up.
