When it comes to Chanukah and Christmas gifts, my pup gets the gift he wants the most, the empty gift wrap tube.

He has a very short attention span. Left the tube behind and stole some fire wood.

Texas: If I have another life, I want to be your Boxer!! Even I don't dare put a partially burnt log on a clean bed!!

When I was in the process of adopting Sierra, "Boxer Rescue" in Vancouver did the house check. Lexie (the boxer) inspected the house, yard and us!! I never paid much attention to Boxers before but one of my sons told me what great dogs they are - calm, quiet, centered!! Now I noticed them on our walks and wondered why I never considered Boxers.

Vanilla: Won't be long before your new pup comes home.

Erka I know and I'm getting so excited yet a little nervous at the thought of getting it right at the same time. Its so easy to forget how small and delicate they can be.

Vanilla, So sorry to learn you lost a pet. The Boxer we had before Shiro came from an all breed rescue. We were lucky enough to have him for 6 years, though 6 years was way, way too short. What kind of pupper are you getting?

Erka, Thankfully Shiro does not stick his big alligator mouth in the fire. What looks like partially burn wood is actually lichen. He has this love of grabbing wood stacked next to the wood burning stove and playing with it. The bed is the dog's bed. I WISH my significant other liked dogs in the bed because both Shiro and Magpie would be snuggled up against me at night.

Boxers ARE great dogs. They were very popular in the 1950s in the U.S. and from what I have seen, they are very popular again. I am almost 61 and have had Boxers in my life since I was a toddler. When My Max, my late Boxer died I had planned on getting another rescue Boxer, but Shiro sort of fell into my lap. He has been a hand full. At 14 months he is sort of getting adult dog brains . . . finally . . . maybe.

Agate, Our dogs have a toy box too, and like your kitties, they like just about anything they find laying around the house better. Especially the pupper.

My Petra was a good age, 15, I lost her 20 mths ago, I still miss her. Sorry you lost your Shiro after only six years, whether its 6 mths, 6 years or 16 yrs, it still hits us hard, such a short lifespan that dogs live. Here's the Link to new pup, not sure which one I'm having yet, going to see them around 12 days time, It will be one of the red boys. Link........

Oh My Vanilla, The puppies are adorable! I can promise you, it will be hard to go see the pups and pick out your which one you are going to get if you are going to have to wait to go back at a later time to get him.

It was My Max who passed. We think he was about 10 or 11 at the time. I became so depressed when he died that I just had to go out and get another Boxer. I drove 2 + hours to my daughter's house and planned to spend the night and leave early the next morning to look at a black faced dark Brindle male at a shelter.

The second I got to my daughter's she told me that a friend of a friend had pups and that one was a white. We had a white in the 1980s to early 1990s. I called to see if the pup was a boy, and when the breeder said yes, I drove straight over to see him. I held him for hours, and then had to wait for 3 weeks to bring him home when he was 8 weeks old. It was a l o n g 3 weeks.

I haven't had a puppy in years, and he is a hand full. I think raising puppies is much easier if you have a house full of kiddos.

"Shiro" means white in Japanese.

The adult male I was going to see at the shelter was adopted within a few days. Thank goodness.

Can't wait to see pictures of your puppy!

Hi TCG ...... I often think puppies are a lot more work than babies because you put babies down, and they stay put, but puppies are into everything from the day they come home. Here in our house in April, 2004 Louie, the Bernese Mountain Dog, arrived at 8 weeks, and in October Montana, my Golden, also 8 weeks arrived and the following September Savannah, the Leonberger, flew to Toronto with my older daughter and myself so we had puppies for almost 2 years.

When I think back, I am not sure I could do my share today as I did then.

A couple of times when they went away, my daughter and SIL had a dog sitter come and stay. The first time there was only Louie, and all went well as Louie was always a laid back puppy, but the next year there was Louie and Savannah (Montana and I were at the lake) and OMG Savannah chewed mega holes in the hall wall. The dog sitter didn't even acknowledge it when my kids returned. Needless to say, I became the dog sitter after that, and it works great as they are accustomed to me being in the house all the time, and I know their personalities

Take care,
Pat

Just had an e-mail from the breeder, she wants to know if we can go see the pups this Saturday 4pm, I've just this minute replied stating, yes we can.
But it will be another 3 weeks plus before we can bring him home with us.
TCG, sounds like you were in the right place at the right time, and luck was on your side when you got your Shiro.

GoldenGal, I agree, yes they are to your first statement.

Pat, You are SO right about puppies being more work than babies! Shiro was just running around the house with a strip of aluminum foil in his mouth. The first dog my late husband and I had tore our living room furniture to pieces one day when I was at work and my husband at school.

Vanilla, Please take pictures this Saturday and post them for all of us to see! Enjoy the new puppy breath!
