As part of my job when I was employed, I programed business telephone systems.
Large business's have hundreds of outgoing lines, each of which has a unique telephone number.
Business's do not want their customers to be calling a meriad of numbers. They want a specific number to be shown, so that return calls go to a central point, for proper handling.
The number that is displayed to a call reciprient is one that the call originator wishes to be displayed. Not the number of the line.
Its only single line, residential customers, whose line number is displayed.
