Had a call tonight from a fellow that had an accent. From India, I would say! He informed me that my computer is causing trouble on the internet and that i should allow him to have a look at it and he would make the necessary repairs. :on a roll: In times past I have just hung up, or even if I'm in a bad mood, swear at him. However, tonight; I was in a playful mood, so i told hime that he was correct and that I do have a problem and was glad that he called. I praised his kindness and congratulated him for taking the time to concern himself about my troubles. I told him, that when I usually turn on the computer I get a black and white screen, with all sorts information flying by! However, now when I turn it on, all I see is numbers spinning up so high that I can't figure out the count in thousands. On the front of the computer lights keep flashing and I keep hearing beeps from inside. I told him that I have some important emails coming tomorrow and I would appreciate it if he could come by my place in the morning. I said I was prepared to pay whatever for a service call, as long as he came before 9 AM. I said that if he wasn't available tomorrow, perhaps he could give me a call and talk me through to a solution. Here I was scamming the scammer and he was taking all this seriously. My, what fun! bounce and jump045 |

Wildie I had a similar phone call ... I should have played games but instead I called the woman a scammer and hung up. My neighbor bit the bait and got scammed out of over $500.00 and she foolishly gave remote access to her computer, passwords and administrative rights along with her credit card number. I almost wet my knickers when she told me that. She called me over because she was having computer problems. Yep, I guess she indeed was having issues. I told her to get hold of her credit card company and cancel it and get a new number, to change all her passwords and remove all the spyware installed in her computer. So what does she do ... she goes to a computer store who told her to throw away her computer and buy a new one & transfer her files to the new computer, she paid them to do this, with all the malware planted there .... so she was scammed a second time. She seemed very surprised and when I told her she was scammed by the computer store. This person is a registered nurse so not exactly dumb. |
