I like eggs cooked sunny side up. The problem is to get the top cooked so it's not runny. So I got this tip from a friend of mine who used to be a chef and owned a restaurant. Get those round silicon egg holders (rings). Get the pan ready with whatever you use to cook the egg in margarine or butter or oil. Heat the pan up. Put the silicone ring in the pan. Break the egg inside the ring. And now the trick. Put a lid on the pan and then just add a little water just enough to make some steam. Put the lid on . The steam from the water cooks the top of the egg. Edited by campy, Mar 21 2012, 04:58 AM.

Darcie. Does cooking an egg thoroughly mean it has to be hard or does is mean when you cook an egg sunny side up it's not runny? Are you posting because you're interested in cooking or only to bug me? My eggs are cooked thoroughly and are perfect and sunny side up. Are you hard boiled all the time or sunny side up some days? What could be simpler? For the raw egg haters, I wonder if they hate caesar salad dressing too? Complicated thread for a perfect food easily cooked! Or not! 017 |

Just for photo effect. By the way that bacon is the one that is pre cooked. Very nice and crispy. |

I spotted the pre cookd bacon right off although I only bought it once and never again. Is it just my eyes or can I not see a wee band around the yoke that looks clear and just might be sticky/runny? It not, have to agree it does look great. If it is runny around the yoke, put me down for a no. Have to admit I am not the best fried egg cooker. lol My husband always made our breakfasts when we had a houseful on weekends. Take care, Pat |

It does look as if the white around the yolk is uncongealed. I like over-lightly, and i know this sounds weird, I like vingear on my fried eggs.

My husband laughed at me when I ordered my fried eggs medium well in a restaurant. Well, why not? As with steak, I like it just slightly pink inside, and with an egg, I like it thoroughly cooked, but not hard. The yolk should have only a hint of softness to it. When I was growing up, however, we always dipped our toast into the runny part of the egg. My grandmother called it the "dippy". |

Never saw one of those thingies either; but that method works, even if you just break the egg in to the pan. nainai |

That's just the reflection of light coming from the window around the yoke. i didn't use a flash. I ate it and I can't stand anything runny in my eggs. I like the pre cooked bacon because most of the fat is gone and it doesn't stink up the kitchen. That egg is not quite as perfect as I wanted it to be for the picture. The yoke is just a bit off center instead of right in the middle. Edited by campy, Mar 24 2012, 01:53 PM.
