Alternatives to the Bell bundle; Pricey and crap service

I've been a Bell customer for decades. But rather than rewarding loyalty, I think Bell is hosing me and providing lousy service to boot.

For our satellite tv, internet and phone bundle (but no cell phones) we pay roughly about $240 a month with tax. I know we can do better elsewhere, but don't want to switch and wind up with even less reliable service.

After days of sporadic satellite signal, we had a service guy come out and swap out what he said was a defective box outside. Yesterday the signal shut down completely. I suspect that Bell is going to try to bill us for the service call.

What alternatives have you used and can recommend? Thanks!

I find the whole thing mind boggling! I have phone and internet from Bell and it costs about $100 a month with long distance calls being extra. Basic cable is provided in my condo. fees so I don't qualify for the Bell bundling thing which includes cable. I get very tired of fighting with Bell to get a discount of $5. per month, which is the best they would do so far.

They are thieves, and the more loyal you are as a customer the worse they hose you. Goes against common sense and any notion of good business.

The sooner I can get Bell completely out of my life the better.

If you think Bell is bad now, see what happens with TV channels pricing if and when they take over more of the media.

Stay tuned to the hearings this week if you worry about rising telecom bills and the prospect of a major carrier increasing control over content. And join the petition campaigns to let the government know of your concern.

I negotiated a great long distance plan with Bell a couple of years ago, I only pay $7.00 a month for 1200 mins. long distance to U.S. and Canada, no cell phone and the satellite is Shaw, so no bundles. I wouldn't go with Bell anyway, but they don't allow another set up at a second home, they want to charge for it, Shaw allows it and even sets it up.

If I had a cell phone with bell I might be able to get a bundle including the internet, but I think all of them are as bad.

The encouraging thing is that between over the air stations, Netflix and a couple if other things you can have a superior selection to what bell or anyone else offers for a fraction of the price.

What's holding us back in Toronto is the need to invest in a Newer tv.

The reason I don't want to give up on Bell is I really don't want to change my main e-mail address. I'd be quite happy if it weren't for that.

FuzzyO My sons advised me to use yahoo or hotmail as my main email address so I can change providers at a whim!!
Recently we switched from Shaw (which I was very happy with) to Telus (a company that ranks up there with Bell). My spouse was annoyed with Shaw's increases of a few dollars every few months.

I started with Bell switched to COGECO Cable that was constantly increasing, Bell contacted me with some made up story on saving money through their bundling Satelite service terrible, It was always going out . I decided to move so for telephone dropped Bell as my TV and Internet was part of the price of my rent For telephone I switched to COMWAVe big mistake their customer service stinks, The sound is very echoy call and complain they blow you off one day they suspended my account because I issued a complaint. Right now I have no phone because the VOIP Modem isn't functioning. For a telephone I have been using Gmail phone not bad but not great

I wish there was one good provider.

I noticed France has a very similar set up as COGECO in fact if it weren't in French I would have said it was COGECO
