I am well into Looking for Peyton Place by Barbara Delinsky. Finished page 180 only to find the next page makes no sense, and it is no wonder because it is page 229. 49 PAGES ARE MISSING! This book was written in 2005, but I just purchased it brand new, albeit less than the regular price. How very disappointing as I was just at a crucial part in the story. I have written to the author and asked if there is any way the 49 pages can be emailed to me. Of course, even if they can, it is likely I will have finished the book. Take care, Pat |

Irritating indeed! Not the author's fault of course, I would contact the bookstore and the publisher. At the very least you should get your mney back or another book of your choice. |

It happened to me with an old favourite a while ago. I put the last sentence I had into Google and up popped a Google Books entry with the next few pages. A couple of more last sentence entries and I had read the whole missing part! Funny, the next time I read that book I searched for the title and got a Russian site with the whole book available to download. I much prefer to read the paper book, so I just copied the missing pages into a text file. |

No Bitsy ..... that did not happen, but pages 229 thru 277 were repeated later on in the book. This book is about mercury poisoning supposedly caused by the town's mill, and I know quite a bit transpired in those missing pages. :sigh: I'll try Googling as you did Delphi, and who knows; if this happened with many books coming off the press, perhaps that section is somewhere on the Net. Take care, Pat |

Maybe so many people, looking for the sex scenes, skipped over that segment of the book that the publishers decided it wasnt worth including it. (heehee) |

Could be Angora as there was a hot and heavy episode later on. I have never read any of her books before. I think I did buy Coast Road years ago and never read it so gave it away. I did enjoy this though and would read her again. My resolution for 2013 is to join the library as I buy so many books. Take care, Pat |

Try a second hand bookstore. For 25 cents you may be able to find another copy without the missing pages. Old classics also come up for sale for pennies in a yard sale. |

Just had to come back and say I had a nice response from the author and have since bought (in paperback) her "Family Tree" and "Not My Daughter" and enjoyed them both so much. Why I ever gave "Coast Road" away without reading it is beyond me. Angora, I think the Book Club is wonderful, but when I read, I read just for me. I am noticing more more books I read have an outline for book club readers so who knows .... I might be converted. Take care, Pat |
