Just picked over a pound of green beans. There are thousands of recipes on the Internet, but if you have a few that you really love, please share. |

When the family was eating vegetarian style, I would make up some Yorkshire pudding for putting under green beans with toasted slivered almonds in white sauce. Edited by Dana, Aug 30 2012, 04:39 AM.

You can steam it, cool it, slice some mild onions thin & dress it with a balsamic vinegar, olive oil, basil and s alt and pepper dressing - some garlic in the dressing is nice too. |

Green beans or yellow bean recipe. For one or two people. Microwave and fry pan method. The microwave shortens the time for tenderizing the beans. Microwave water in a cup until it is hot. 1 cup of beans. They have to be fresh. Baking dish deep 1 quart casserole. Microwave time at high 12 to14 minutes. Standing time 2 minutes. Wash beans and remove ends. Cut in 1 to 2 inch pieces or leave whole. Combine beans and hot water to cover. Microwave at full power until tender stirring once. Then let stand. Then drain the water. Next I put the beans in fry pan with butter or margarine. Optional. Fry some onions first. And then stir fry the beans but don't overcook. For seasoning. A bit of cinnamon sprinkled on top. You can try other seasonings. Also optional. If your diet allows it a bit of bacon in with the beans and onions. The smell while cooking is enough to get the juices flowing. |
