Ever since this problem evolved with my land lord allowing some one into my place. He is making my life pure hell! He knows that I know it was him or someone he allowed to stay in my place. Each time I turn around something else is askew! The VOIP modem to my phone some how is broken. I have been making calls from my computer with G-mail Tonight he sent me an email telling me tomorrow he is cutting the internet and TV.
I was talking to hubby tonight there he was standing outside my door yelling Alli Alli I need to speak to you. I was furious because he was deliberately doing this as he can hear me talking. Hubby asked me in French why was he deranging me.. I called the LLTB they said there was a form to fill out, the police tell me it may be impossible to prove it was him.... yet all the evidence points to him. He had 3 young women upstairs Friday night the recycling bin is full of wine bottle liquor bottles.. It's so disconcerting having to live like this always tense anxious. I really haven't had a good nights sleep. It was my birthday Sat my oldest son wanted to take me out for dinner. I wouldn't go because I was worried he would be back inside I have missing mail One letter in an entire month? My missing toaster, a ring that was custom designed for me by my late ex hubby. My son's wallet disappearing money from my file box. Too many things and now he wants to cut the TV & Internet....
Any suggestions ideas would be most appreciated.

There are some weird tenants also. I had one paint my kitchen with kelly green car paint. He and his wife thought they were doing me a favour as I would not need to paint again.

They were correct, we had to take everything down to the 2 x 4s, even the floor as they did not know how to wash a floor.

We never bothered them, we were out of town. Have to say we successfully sued them for damages and for all legal costs including staying in a hotel while we did repairs.

How about blood red after being told it would be a neutral colour? I won that one. I've been told by a friend who is a tenant that I was a good landlord, timely with repairs, not bugging tenants etc. With most tenants we each used to have the key of the other, in case of emergencies, no problem. I quit being a landlord after 3 bad tenants in a row. Now I am being a good tenant.

A friend had to rescue her daughter from a pshyco landlady with the threat of the Mother Palm!

If it's only one week, you're almost gone. The locks sound like a good idea.

I don't know the laws in Ontario.

In Quebec there has to be two doors, and a certain square window surface for each room as well as ventilation fans in bathrooms and kitchens.

I just know that someone I met in London had a fine levied because her basement apartment did not meet standards. They said if an immediate family member lived there it was OK but in her case it was illegal for anyone to sleep there.
The Ontario building code requires that any area that is used for sleeping accommodation must have two ways to exit. The minimum size of an exit is 24"X24".

You are not allowed to add any locks or change bolts keys anything with out the Land Lords permission. That's a no brainer that he will not allow me to install my own.

This is a photo of my living room
If you look straight through to the end of the photo, this is the entrance to his upstairs area. That is the door he would have come through. Tonight I deliberately left my key inside my house while I went out. I asked if he could unlock the door for me. Instead of going to the main door with a spare key, he went down the 4 steps, had a kitchen knife and voilla!! slid the knife up in between the lock & the door unlocked the door. That's how he and his "guests" was gaining entry to my apt.
The large sliding doors by my sofa is my storage area. Everything there is placed neatly I now where everything is. I came home a cooler wine bag I have was on the sofa, A crystal vase I kept in there was on the table, not placed as an ornament but placed as though it was forgotten..Just outright thievery!!

My TV was on electricity on lights...

You need a nanny cam, or some of that powder they put on bank notes that stains the thief's hands for hours afterwards!

That brings to mind one of my favorite jokes:

A well to do but parsimonious man wanted his porch painted so he hired an illegal immigrant on the cheap. He told the workman to paint the porch in gray deck paint that he could find in the garage.
So the man left and the workman went to work.
The man returned and found the porch untouched.
But before he could say anything to the workman the guy said proudly
"I finished the Porsche, do you want me to do the Mercedes too?" :ciao:

Alli - how long is it before you go back to France? if only a matter of weeks, the heck with the no lock provision in your lease. Put a deadbolt lock on your door despite the lease. Your safety and feelings of safety are paramount.

Presumably it would take him at least a few weeks to sue you, so if you are gone, and all your assets, etc. are in France, how could he harm you?

I was joking about leaving the water running when you go, but I am NOT joking about the the locks. This kind of stress can be very harmful to you and you need to place your health above all else.

Alli, please listen to BJ. At least put one of those alarms like I have, it rings really loudly if the door is opened. At least it would scare the heck out of him if you were not there, and he probably would not know how to shut it off. It you were home you would know he was trying to get in.

I have spare ones, if you PM me your address I will mail one to you if you want one.

You could set up a booby trap! Not one to cause injury, but one to cause major inconvenience.
Perhaps you could open a can of paint, to paint a piece of furniture! And then just happen to forget to put the lid on, when you slip out to get another paint brush.
Of course, the open can just happened to be set down near the door, where it just happened to get knocked over! Drat!

Why is this landlord leaving so many clues to show that he was there. What would he gain from this?

Angora if I had the answer to that question I would be rich. As I said I stood and watched him slip a knife between the door and lock to let me in. I literally felt sick.

Land lords do checks on tenants maybe the reverse should be true too. A background check on them to see if they have a Criminal background or sexual convictions. I don't sleep . I feel like a nervous wreck pissed off my toaster was stolen. I return to France around the middle of December

He knows he has me over a barrel because I can't prove 100% and I doubt seriously the owner of the red night gown is going to come forward and claim it. There are sick people who wear business suits too.......
