That's hilarious GG. I have a crocheted mouse gift for a friend's indoor cat too. Wrapped and ready to go.

Walking with a small cute dog does bring opportunity for many conversations. When Roland and I walk together he gets lots of attention and many smiles. When asked if he wants a treat in some of the shops they are happy to know that he would rather have a petting than an edible treat.
Some of the seniors we meet reminisce about the dogs they have had as companions in their lives and they get a chance to visit.

Yes Nainai, fish are not easy but easier with the camcorder.
Years ago I crocheted a "mouse" out of very tough, coarse yarn, for a friend. I was a very inexperienced at the craft, and although really cute and sturdy, it turned out a good deal larger than I intended. The cat loved it, but my friends husband said it was more of a rat than a mouse! Not something I have attempted again (just not a "crafty" person).

Roland's friend Pearl, the cat, has some good toys too, apart from Roland who is about 1/2 her size.

Including a rat-like stuffed toy.

I try to walk every day.
Noticed this frosty stick one day. It is a peculiar form of frost due to the moisture exuding from the stick and freezing as it does.

Then a fungus with remnants.

It was growing out of this interesting stump. The slashes didn't make sense until I saw the pic.

Yesterday's walk was seaside. Not much happening out there with the tide so far out.

The fish bodies are gone for the most part, remnants here and waaaaay up there!

I love viewing your pics Dana. Makes me feel like I am right there. Roland is so good looking, and you keep his coat looking wonderful.

Take care,

Your pics continue to amaze me Dana!
The slashes in the stump were made to assist the stump to break down in the weather more quickly.

It's funny though that one would do the extra work of carving 'tuff work' into the stump of the already tough work.
Of course, nothing as elaborate as these.

Looking at those is making me lonesome for the beautiful things of B.C. My daughter is offering to have me design my own apartment and they will build it. All I need to do is cook four meals a month to pay for my rent.

Very tempting, seeing as my 5 greatgrands are there.

Not that we wouldn't love to have you but......how would it affect your breathing to live in BC? Many who come hither must return whence they came as they cannot cope with all the allergens from the trees.
We're having another murky day here as there is a huge fog bank hanging around lately. We keep encouraging each other by saying how good it is for the skin!

The worse place for my asthma is Calgary, when I went to Vancouver I was OK, not great but it is very doable. It is the rain and gray that gets to me.

Darcie: Is this the daughter who will be retiring to Powell River? I am here now (ex husband's winter home) and I love it - so relaxing, right on the water. Many home owners can harvest vegetables year round.

I lived in Powell River for 2-1/2 years right after my last child was born. Lot of good oysters and prawns, interesting place.

My daughter and husband built their retirement home there (6 bedrooms). They want the grandkids to come apparently. They live in southwest Surrey during the week.

This is the place. They have added a huge new building. I wonder if the food is still as good. It is seaside and where I saw a family of otters including young ones, so cute, on the beach. We also went to Valentine Mt. a little ways away for a hill top view. When friend and I stopped for directions the people in their yard smiled and asked us to say Hi to Mom as that is where she had requested that her ashes be scattered. We did.

Dana, you take the same type of pictures that I used to love to take.
I am no longer able to do it, but have my memories.

I have been to the Island, (every Sept to visit my Son), I have seen some of the carvings.
By the time I get there, many have been sold or removed.
Amazing work.

Keep on having fun with photography.

Oh yes, I could never live on the Island, too damp and too many allergens for my lungs.
But I sure do love to visit.
