This one isn't particularly new, but I find it annoying. Way too many news reports, in print, or broadcast, describe stuff as being "sold off." What's wrong with just "sold"? And I deplore the increasing euphemisms about death. No one dies anymore. They "pass". Arrghh. What words are bugging you? |

I don’t see anyone annoyed that language has changed or is changing, I see it as being annoyed when words are not used correctly or as the title says the “ Annoying word usuage” |

When not used 'correctly' is changing the language. |

Momentarily is often used incorrectly e.g. if the pilot says we will be air born momentarily - you're in trouble biggrin 04 |

Especially, when 400 plus passengers on a 747 are born at the same time. :cow-IthinkIamgoingmad: The pilot should have said 'airborne' rather than 'air born'! or perhaps he did say it after all. |

I have never liked it when people said to me..sorry you lost your husband, when my husband died. Where did I lose him I always wondered blink 000 Many people are uncomfortable when they hear you say..".My husband died" |

Momentarily seems to be quite common usage in airline announcments and accepted as
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/momentarily You should worry, however, if he said "we will be air born momentarily " |
