Nothing irritates me more than when something is announced and I want more on the subject, I am redirected to facebook. Recently I was supporting a friend in a contest and I had to verify my vote through facebook. These are only a couple of examples. Now in order to do any of the above I have to join Facebook. Well, I for one do not wish to join Facebook, I have no interest, desire nor do I wish to disclose any private information they collect and having that information shared with third parties. Next what about the thousands of people who do not have a computer and do not want one .. they are denied the sought for information and thus forced to buy a computer and to join facebook. No wonder Facebook has a billion subscribers & growing .. not for the want of people to subscribe but being forced to subscribe. |

I enjoy Facebook. We used to travel a lot, plus our friends are all over the globe. Facebook allows one to keep up with friends and acquaintences with out have to do individual e-mail or phone calls. Of course I allow ONLY people I know to view my Facebook page. |

My husband and I use Facebook like angora does. Keep in touch with our kids, grandkids and friends (real, not "Facebooks friends"). I've never played any of the games, don't reply to app requests, do post some pictures and occasionally "like" something or comment on another's post. Settings can be made to make things quite private and we haven't had any spam or hacking. My husband was contacted by a friend he hadn't seen or heard from since 1953 and we arranged a visit this spring. Younger daughter is in touch with many of her elementary and high school friends as well as some of the people she used to baby-sit for that probably wouldn't have happened without Facebook. |
