I enjoyed the extra hour in bed on Sunday - tucked up under the duvet.

Mind you I would happily forgo an hour of sleep time, if it meant I could skip winter and be greeted with spring flowers and encroaching warmth.

How did that come about? I think someone in the US said it would save some electricity and Canada loyally followed. No word on whether there actually was a saving.

The theory is that you don't have to turn on your artificial lights in the evening until an hour later under Daylight Savings Time because it is brighter out.

Eh, we don't get to do that until this weekend, courtesy of whatever idiots convinced Congress extending DST through the beginning of November was a great idea.

The other thing is that the sun would be coming up around 4am during the summer, at least where I am.
