Comments? http://www.patheos.com/blogs/frankschaeffer/2012/11/is-there-any-crime-israel-could-commit-against-the-palestinian-refugees-that-american-evangelical-christians-would-object-to/ I read a piece trying to sort out the latest conflict. The conclusion was there was no way to figure out who started it this time. Sorta like the Hatfields and McCoys. |

DRivera - the piece you referenced simply contains "facts" as the premise for the opinions that follow that are simply untrue. As you, yourself have stated so often when raging against conservatives here, "you are entitled to your own opinions, but not to your own facts." I could reply to the assertions in that articleand in your post one by one, but I already did in the thread that Kahu closed on the lastest Israeli-Hamas go round. Please reread my post there. |

OK. Just wondering because I've never understood either side. Ever hear the joke about spitting in shoes and pissing in Cokes? Where is the post? Edited by drivera462, Nov 22 2012, 10:04 AM.

Israel-Hamas ceasefire comes into effect in Gaza Is it true and will it last? And does this mean Hillary has a lock on 2016? Posted Image Hmmm I missed that one. So...is there a viable solution or will the carnage continue for another 100 years? Even the Irish and the British finally got tired. Edited by drivera462, Nov 22 2012, 10:12 AM.

As long as you have a country like Iran with a sworn promise to wipe Israel off the map and continuing to sponsor terrorism, the ceasefire will not last long. There are many Islamic militant factions in the area just waiting for their chance to achieve their 15 minutes of fame. The conflict and animosity has been going on for over 2000 years, Britain and Ireland are mere amateurs in comparison. |

Ancient hatreds are still exhausting. However, I really start to get twitchy when our evangelical nutjobs want us to bomb Iran to bring about the "end times." |

Exactly. The Iranians fund and manipulate Hamas and the poorly educated masses much like the Koch Brothers who sponsor the teabaggers here manipulate the evangelicals for decidedly unChristian purposes. |

The group that executed the so called 'spies`where not Hamas, but Hamas has not condemned the killings and the people cheer. I don`t see how anything will change for the `Palestinians`as long as they continue to promote hatred in their classrooms. Who is going to teach them tolerance of all religions, as long as they are taught that Jews are descendants of `apes and pigs`etc. there will be no solution to the conflict. If education is the answer who is going to change the curriculum. As long as the apologists for the radicals continue to tolerate their violence and hate the conflict will continue. http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/04/palestinian_hateeducation_cont.html http://www.algemeiner.com/2012/09/03/new-%E2%80%98hate%E2%80%99-education-hebrew-class-to-be-taught-to-gaza-children/ “Jewish holy places in Israel are not recognized. They are presented as Muslim holy sites taken over by Jews. There is no recognition of Jewish people as a nation. Israelis are depicted as criminals and thieves,” Pardo added. |

British parliamentarian George Galloway sure holds some extreme views though he does make some notable points about fairness. The open air sound is bad in this video and there are no subtitles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZUKe6koKn8&feature=watch_response_rev An article from The Jerusalem Post. ( Is this one like Fox? no way to know from here.) In Tel Aviv, 100s protest against Gaza operation http://www.jpost.com/DiplomacyAndPolitics/Article.aspx?id=292323 Another from England.(Are these people flakes or what?) British Jews in London join protest against Israeli murders in Gaza. http://inagist.com/all/270688144351965184/ One from France. French Jews demonstrate in show of support for Israeli offensive in Gaza, denounce terrorism http://www.canada.com/mobile/news/world-news/French+Jews+demonstrate+show+support+Israeli+offensive+Gaza+denounce/7584632/story.html Edited by Dana, Nov 22 2012, 01:53 PM.

That reminds me of something I read from Israel a week or two ago. It seems the Israelis wonder about the motives of these "evangelical nutjobs" when they visit Israel and start talking about the end times . . . and how they hope Armageddon will come soon. I believe peace is possible. Even that it nearly happened years ago when Rabin and Arafat were negotiating. Perhaps that is why they were both murdered. If you read the Dr Abuelaish book "I Shall Not Hate" you will believe it, too. Just a matter of encouraging the ordinary people to speak up on both sides and isolating the bigots (Kahu's definition really pins it). http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jan/16/gaza-doctor-izzeldin-abuelaish-interview The whole thing reminds me of my short fighting career. In grade 3 I learned that I was a pretty good fighter. I got another boy down and sat on him. But I was terribly scared that he would kill me when I let him up. I actually hit him when he was down and was really ashamed when other boys pulled me off. (Goodness, that's how bullies were dealt with in those days?) I am, of course, referring to the blockade of Gaza which is like holding it down and choking it out of fear. I know, the blockade was not the start of the trouble and the blockade of weapons is fully justified. But not the blockade of exports like flowers and fruit. The start of peace is giving the non-violent farmers a chance to make a living. Edited by Delphi51, Nov 22 2012, 04:34 PM.

And I repeat: everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, but not to his or her own facts. |
