What a nasty posts of bank :-) tootles the day after I purchased my iPad for first full price. I am trying to figure out now how to get the voice recognition software to put in punctuation?
LOL I actually said the word :-) and it put a smiley face in and then I think you have to say the word. At? To get the voice recognition to put in punctuation.
As you can say I am a long way from having perfected the use of the voice text recognition software.
What's really cute about this iPad for is that darling husband is doing the New York Times crossword puzzle and he told me to ask Siri what the name of the Atlanta basketball team is. I asked her and she provided the correct answer for his crossword puzzle.

Technology triumphs over crosswords!

Top secret - I bought an Ipad 4 (or retina?) yesterday for DD's Christmas present. I didn't even realize a fourth version was out. And version 3 is only available in 16 GB cellular. I have now bought one of each version, counting the one the long term care still owes me for (DW and DD fundraised for it but Alberta Health Services holds the money and they are very slow to pay).

Goodness, looks like Apple Computer is looking pretty healthy despite the stock being down quite a bit since September.

LOL. Well if you figure out how to get the voice recognition to recognize actual words, please advise. I am sure Tootles is getting a bit of a chuckle over the mispelling of her name....

Yes, bj I am getting a chuckle . "tootles" !! I just may adopt that name so that you get the correct spelling. You are doing very well with it. Way to go girl!!!

I got notified my IPad [32gb] will take up to 3 wks. for delivery. I got the newest one and why not - airmiles paid for it.

My GPS arrived yesterday .. unbelievable! It too has voice recognition & I can use the touch pad or tell the GPS my destination. I can also ask my GPS to dial a phone number for me so presume I need a Cell phone for that. I was under the impression I ordered something simple, not so. But if I have a cell phone, I can ask, by pushing the correct button, via my vehicle to do the same but it's not free.

Congrats! Delphi ... what a lovely gift.

Some of us mentioned that voice recognition isn't all that great. When you have it on your own computer, you can train it for your voice and improve the recognition with a big investment in time. I don't think the iPad can do that since the recognition takes place for everyone on a big computer. Still, you'll get the benefit from improvements to its programming. It would be interesting to know what is going on in that area. A decade or two ago the government of Saskatchewan invested heavily in a voice recognition company, spending more than a hundred million dollars on it. All lost when it failed.

That brings to mind when we sent telegrams! I remember ending a sentence with the word 'STOP' rather than a 'PERIOD'.
We had to pay by thr letter, and it was cheaper to send STOP rather than PERIOD!
