Please some parking lot patience

At this time of the year especially if there is snow on the ground, parking lots tend to be a bit of a mess ... why do people ........

* drive in the way over the middle of the lane and not in their lane and then give you the finger and them some, if they have to move over into their lane.

* park in handicap when not handicapped just because the painted concrete sign is covered with snow? Most know very well that the first stalls are usually assigned to handicap.

* When a vehicle has backed out of a stall more than half way, why does the oncoming vehicle sit on their horn and forcing the person back into a stall & wait until they pass?

* pedestrians who see a vehicle backing up and walk right behind the vehicle and will kick the car or scream vulgarities. Are they not aware that they may be in a blind spot or are they unable to courteously stop using their feet and wait for the vehicle to back out of a stall?

* people dash right in front of a moving vehicle and give the middle finger while doing so.

* when sitting waiting for a vehicle to vacate a stall, once empty another vehicle wheels right in front of you and grabs that vacant stall.

* people walk smack in the middle of the drive lane and give you a dirty look when they have to move over to allow you to pass.

* why will one car not yield for another- when leaving the lot into through traffic, no one let's them in.

A little patience & courtesy goes a long way especially at this time of year. Remember that their time is no more important than anyone else’s and by getting selfish in their efforts, they are only making things worse for everyone, including themselves.

Had to go to the store yesterday as time was running out to buy a turkey to defrost. Was silly enough to figure that waiting till dinner hour might result in a little less chaos.

I was wrong. We circled the parking lot and for it being the season to be merry it was anything but.

Will try again early this morning. They open at 7 ;)

My solution to that problem? Everyone seems so frazzled at this time of the year, so unless it's urgent business ....we simply stay away from crowded places.

I have been pleasantly surprised in the large mall parking lot, as well as that of Walmart and the 'favoirite' grocery store, lots of people but I found parking quite easily and people were taking their turns at corners. I have to go pick up the free range organic turkeys tomorrow morning, hope it still works the same.

I went right after lunch and will do similarly tomorrow.

I shop early in the morning and haven't had any problems, but I won't go near the mall until next week if I can help it. I hate the way people just stroll out in front of moving cars and walk as slowly as they can at times. Some people forget that 5 mph was the speed limit in parking lots and drive too fast. I went to the library today and it was great. I guess everyone else was shopping. Don't get me started on those empty spots for pregnant women!

I hope I can keep my new found serenity throughout the New Year. After the Newtown tragedy, I decided I was not going to sweat the small stuff this holiday season and count my blessings that I will have my family intact and with me for Christmas. Traffic, shopping malls, parking and crowds are small l things to endure for the joy of being able to fight the mobs to purchase gifts for my loved ones

Advantages of living on a small Island : no malls, no crowds and UPS delivers. We did all of our holiday shopping either online or from small local merchants.

What bugs me is lineups at the Superstore gas bar. Especially when waiting for somebody who needs to line up to pay after getting gas. Do they not have credit cards? I get an extra 3 cents a liter off for using mine and it saves everyone in the line 5 or ten minutes.

What bugs me is someone backing into a tight parking spot between two cars and you have to wait 10 minutes until he gets it just right.

Folks. It's a hell of a lot easier to drive in and back out because when you back out there are tons of room behind you.

So what do you gain by backing into a parking space. A quick get away?

The excuse I get is that it's easier to see someone coming when you drive out.

All you have to do when backing out of a parking spot is to put your emergency flashers on.

Anyone can see you backing out and in many cases people are looking for your parking spot and will wait for you.

I do back in sometimes - if I'm expecting things to be a lot busier when I leave. I also choose a drive through spot if available. Backing out in a parking lot crowded with cars and people is traumatic. I had my only accident involving a claim that way. I had an emergency and there was a blizzard so I took a chance and backed out without being able to see clearly and some guy drove into into the space I was backing through.

That is one unusual accident but another reason not to back into a parking spot.

It should be illegal to back into a parking spot. It is unecessary and causes dents snf scrapes.

Very difficult to control a vehicle going backwards.

You guy's just don't KNOW how wonderful it is NOT to have a car anymore and be able to travel anywhere in New York City, 24 hours a day by subway and/or bus, for a $52 monthly pass.
No insurance, no accidents, no dead batteries, no stolen or towed cars, no scrapes in the middle of the night, no DUI's, no car payments...and no fatal head on collisons with a 16 wheeler. NIRVANA!

You have to live in a city that has great common transportation, I used to love it in Paris, London etc. and even Montreal is pretty good. But most city have systems that are not dependable or appropriate to need. For instance some cities are expensive, I understand that a 3 zone pass in Vancouver is over $150.00 They also don

I don't know how much it is in Montreal.
