Lost the internet on Dec 15 2012. Called tech help on the 17th of December. To make a long story short, called the same tech help 4 times over the next couple of weeks. They got back to me and said the problem had been fixed.....4 times as I recall...NOPE..it had not!

The first tech suggestion, "it could be your modem."....so what did I do?....went and had it changed and....nope, still could not connect to the internet.

Even had a tech specialist (I think or a cable guy) visit my home. He spent a couple of hours trying to figure out the problem and came to the conclusion...problem not at this end, but at the other end. He even tried his laptop...NOPE!

We have two machines. So hooked up the other and.......NOPE!

Took my PC over to my sons place and YEP...it worked..not once but twice and both times connected just fine....

So, on January 5th visited another IP. They came to my house and in 10 minute had me hooked up to the internet. On January 7th cancelled the original IP......who was Rogers!....and we have been with these guys since the begin of time????????????????

I suspected the cause was the outside line coming into the house, but the cable guy neglected to check it. The signal was coming in.....but not going out.

End of story.

I have dealt with Telus forever, and had a few bad experiences with their customer service and response about 10 years ago after their last big reorg. Since then they have slowly improved and the last time I had a problem with my Telus Optik service, it was fixed quickly.

Telus stock is one of our main investment components, hard to beat those consistent dividends and it's a well managed company so expect it to continue. One of the things about a telecom/internet provider, people will go without food and shelter before they give up their communications and online fun.

In the 90s Bell dumped about 10,000 technical people! These were long term service people. Myself included! Here in the east Telus snapped up all these experienced people. Many of my co-workers at Bell are now happy Telus employee's.
Their talent and happiness appear to be reflected in the service that Telus offers.
