A Doc new to me who I like more each time I see him. This week he confirmed that a condition I am suffering from is not often relieved by surgery and advised against it. I was happy to see that though he practices surgery it is not his first option. It certainly would be my last choice.

I do like doctors that offer alternatives to surgery. Had a similar thing happen to me with my knee. And, she was right, did take a couple of years to heal doing what she said. The surgery was not all that successful on many, and she told me so.

I am glad you hit on a good one too.

A doc you trust AND like is a blessing. I tend to feel that the way you evaluate your comfort level with any health professional - doctor, dentist, vet, is "Am i happy to be going to see this person regardless of the reason?"

My doc came several times to see us while George was dying; He is not only my doc, but my daughters;, too, so it was very comfortable and comforting for all of us. That also made it easier when I needed Karen to accompany me, after I had a fainting episode, which i. obviously, was unable to describe.
