Not really, but sure thinking about it. Dear Mr/Ms Revenue Canada: Thank you for your letter dated Jan 11, 2013, which I recieved Jan 17, 2013. Very thoughtful of you to inform us you would not be sending out Tax Forms this year, would have thought you would have given us some advance warning, instead of a warning in a tax year. Nothing on the news, just a letter. In your letter you said we could download tax forms on the internet. I wonder how many seniors would do this or even know how. I also wonder how many seniors have a printer, to print these forms. Of course, the option you gave us was to visit a local post office. I did three times before I was able to get these forms. And what about seniors living in rural areas and box numbers. Are they suppose to drive to their local post office which could be miles away? Upon arriving at home I checked the forms....and guess what....I could not find the form required (T1032E), which allowed seniors Joint Election to Split Pension Income...so, what do you suggest?..how do I get copies of these forms?...phone you and ask for you to mail these forms? and would I be talking to a real person or a computer or press a number. I also wonder if people do not recieve their tax forms (which is a reminder to file taxes) if they will remember to do same. You say seniors have a Free Friday to log in and register...suppose we forget (we are seniors after all). So, the only solution is to file on line....and pay for it! Or we can go to H&R Block or some other tax preparer. What is that going to cost us? Or we can buy the software and file....gimme a break! For the last 60 odd years I have recieved tax forms through the mail, am part of the old school, and do my taxes the old fashion way...with a pencil and paper. I wonder how many other seniors do this?....many I suspect. The only people this your new system helps are, software developers and tax preparers. It sure does not help seniors or your average citizen who does not have access to a computer. I could go on, but I suggest you re-think this new system and I predict there will be many problems with this system, this year. Yours Truly: pcmustard |

Thought I have not mailed in my taxes for years, I think your letter is right on. I have printed forms for a senior living in my building who is in a wheelchair and has no computer. I hope she doesn't tell others, printing is expensive. I think you should mail that, it is only right to do so. Make yourself heard so many of us have given up as the current regime seems to have lost their ears. |

Lets face it, if people don't do their taxes because they have no forms they can go after them for non filing and charge them penalties and interest. Cute system. |

That's what happens with budget cuts. Chances are it was in the fine print of the cuts but no one noticed. |

Are you a senior and do you and your spouse require the form T1032E to split any pension income. I have a military pension which I can split with my wife. These forms were not present in the General Tax Forms, but came with the Tax package T1S-A which were specifically issued to seniors. I am pleased to hear you had no problem picking up tax form, but I did and finally picked them up yesterday. So what do you think of this new system? And I agree with Darcie....this is what is going to happen.............................for sure! Edited by pcmustard, Feb 21 2013, 07:53 AM.

Why not go after the post office for not stocking the forms? They probably will now that they are no longer mailing them out. I do agree that Revenue Canada should continue mailing to those who mailed in last year. |

It is not the post office responsibility, but Revenue Canada, to issue tax forms to the post office. I talked to the postal clerk and she said, "Last year Revenue Canada sent me an initial stock of 1000 forms. This year they sent 300 and they were gone in a day.".......and that was two weeks ago! Not the post office fault, but Revenue Canada for not being able to get their act to-gether. |

Last year I went to the post office to pick up tax forms for the seniors in the retirement building. The post office would only let me take 10 forms. Many of the seniors had come the current year and had not changed their address with Revenue Canada. |

There is still lots of hard copy on the library bookshelves. Libraries or other public places could be used instead of post offices. |

Funny, just as we seniors have greater numbers than ever before, I notice more cases of ignoring our needs. We were talking about smoke detectors because MIL set hers off and had to go ask a neighbour to stop the alarm located on the ceiling. Why don't they have remotes or a big button grandma could push with her cane? Clothing design leaves much to be improved, too. I can't believe there isn't a shoe that ties itself yet. |

Thats fine, but how many people use the library?...and what public places would you suggest? Given the fact there are many public places, what would the cost be for Revenue Canada to organize and distibute to these public places. Given the fact that the post office is a Federal Corporation, who would be better to distribute the tax forms......if Revenue Canada can get their ACT to-gether. And if you require a specific form (like the one I mention that was missing), how would you suggest all the seniors who require this form............. gain access to this form? The library is not a govt. institution. The post office is. And there are more than one post office in cities. I haven't received a tax form in the mail for years. Anyone doong their taxes manually are at a huge disadvantage. |
