I've finally got to see what all the fuss is about. Although I spend an arm and a leg on TV, Homeland was on an extra premium Channe tied to another package of shows. .
I'm quite blown away by the excellence of this show . Quite the best thing I've seen for a long time.
Bravo for Bravo!!!

I'm very surprised that I like it. Even the word Homeland turns off a switch for me. I avoid like the plague any movies to do with war, especially the middle East.
This show however, is captivating and not the cheerleader for Imperialism that I thought it would be. My son who shares my antiwar sentiments, has been raving about it for ages.

LOL, Olive. I have observed for quite some time now that you and I often have similar taste in films, books and TV. I was also extremely surprised that I liked Homeland so much.

Maybe the reason is that the show doesn't paint the good guys all "white" and the bad guys all "black." Indeed, I think the brilliance of the show is that it makes the complexity of this "war on terror" so interesting.

Seems the only truly bad guys in the series are the politicians......need I say more?

SOOOO,
Tonight is the start of Season 3 of HOMELAND.

We did all 24 hours of the first two seasons in the last 2 weeks. About half way through Season 2, things started thrashing about madly. A little too much unbelievable chaos.
It seemed like the writers gave up on common sense.

The big bomb in the finale was a surprise but really implausible. In episode 2:12, notice mom carefully braiding the brat's long hair but then when Brody arrives a couple hours later, no braids???
They had the vice president in the sniper's hairlines and then purposefully shot a fund raiser? But then they cooked up some silliness to kill only the vice president by hacking his pacemaker?
But he was supposed to be blown up only a couple days before along with 300 returning troops (a second failed bomb plot.)
So we are to believe they hatched BOTH these plots at the same time??? Let's blow him up and have Brody sneak into his office to hack his pacemaker just in case?

Have you seen a federal building lately? So many bollards no SUV CAN GET near them, even Post Offices. But LANGLEY CIA buildings presumably allow SUV's to get right up to the auditorium windows???

I forgot something? Who had Brody's confession chip? The one that seems to have made it to the news. Was it Saul, or the late Estes, or someone else?

I see the show as getting more implausible as it goes along. Even simple things bother me like wouldn't you worry about finger prints if you were tampering with the pacemaker code? Brody also seemed to take his sweet time obtaining it. Is this even based on fact that pacemakers could be manipulated in this way?

Even the daughter and the hit in run didn't ring true. That daughter is so unlikable she makes the terrorists look good.

However, you must admit that Brody is great eye candy. I've never been drawn to red headed men but "Oh you kid!" laugh123 Also, love that Saul.

Every time she goes near a window, pouting as usual, I yell "JUMP!"

Yeah, Damian Lewis is one uniquely good looking redhead. I first saw him in the remake of the Forsyte Saga as Soames and thought him a oner.

But I never watched that cops and robbers thing he's on regularly.

We haven't had Season 2 yet. Sure we could get it on Superchannel but I'm not paying for it.

I don't know what the hold up is but it's very annoying.
