Thanks, Trotsky. Great link. I wish Morrison would record it. |

I went to u tube and heard van Morrison's Bye bye Blackbird. Nice lively jazzy version. Somehow it led me to Joe Cocker's Into the Mystic. What a beautiful experience that was. Serendipity. |

Oh lord, I just read that link I posted rather than just Edit>>Find>>Blackbird and from the plot, lo and behold I SAW it a couple days ago. I'll re-record it and listen to the credits. Maybe I jumped the gun on them with the DELETE button last time, but sometimes my DVR cuts out a little too quick. I always miss the last 30 seconds of THE BIG BANG THEORY(although I DO have them all memorized. ) Edited by Trotsky, Nov 15 2013, 02:39 AM.

I heard this show is Obama's favourite. I watched a few episodes from season one but lost interest. The whole story line seemed too implausible.

I am a fan but not a huge fan, and I do think they overreach at times but it is much better and more realistic that 24 Hours. I actually share some of Obama's faves, especially his opinion that The Wire is one of the greatest shows of all time http://www.businessinsider.com/obamas-favorite-tv-shows-2012-11 |

My rule for any new show is that if I fall asleep during the first show then I don't watch it again. I did for this one though, same thing happen, just doesn't keep me interested, sort of like one already knows what is coming up. |

Reactivate, The show got better as it went along but you are correct, implausible is an UNDERSTATEMENT. But the writers have really let their imaginations run riot and that's where the fun is. And Claire Danes making faces is something worthy of Ripley's. I think at the current stage we are supposed to be rooting for "the good old CIA" and I cannot tell you what that does to my gag reflex. Bitsy, Oh dear. I think someone should be taken to the woodshed for that bastardization of a lovely old song. Made Blackbird completely unrecognizable. I'm a purist and don't like too many liberties taken with the big classics. I run away from cabaret for just that reason...and one of our close friends is a cabaret artiste, so I must often button my lip and smile. I'm just a little too young to really appreciate jazz interpretations. Imagine being too young for anything at MY age. Saying that felt really GOOD. Here we go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXQPrtJYCJs And of course, Fosse meets Blackbird: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWcxwEnY5vg&list=PLIZKaWQ1vnf8OcDrc-zYElWODqixnV3E6&index=6 Edited by Trotsky, Nov 15 2013, 04:36 AM.

Oh, sorry you didn't like it but I understand if you are a purist. Generally I am also , but this one captured my attention and I would like to hear the entire arrangement. Do you agree that you think it Van Morrison? |

I'm gonna go with an 80% confidence in YES. (But as they might say in NEWSROOM, I need to wait for a second source. :rules: ) Edited by Trotsky, Nov 16 2013, 02:37 AM.

Isn't ANYONE going to comment on last night's episode which I assume is at minimum the season finale....but may very well be the series finale? I was shocked! |

Of course it MUST be the Series Finale. This last season was becoming detached from any semblance of reality. Like many shows that are ending their runs, you can sort of sense in the background the slow dissolution of the writing staff. "Hey I have an idea for a great new series and I was a writer for Homeland. Yeah, I can start on Monday." I was going to kvetch for the last 6 episodes but, like Bitsy, I kept my mouth shut for you Canadians and those without HBO waiting for the "regular TV" broadcasts with commercials and "expletives deleted." laugh123 But really, my recommendation would be that for any newcomers to the series, you won't do yourself a disservice by skipping Season 3...it really was vastly inferior to everything that had gone on before. Bitsy, Begete, and anyone else who made it to the end: Here's an interesting read for you. BIG SPOILER ALERT: VVVV<<<CLANG CLANG CLANG!>>>VVVVV Don't read on if you haven't seen it. http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/culture/2013/12/where-did-homeland-go-wrong.html And the END-END, you know the part after the END, I agree with the reviewer, was nauseatingly cloying. gaah.gif gaah.gif The only thing missing was the Kate Smith singing God Bless America...or Jingo Bells. PRODUCER: "Hey, is there anybody left on staff who can glue on an ending before we have to clear out of the building? Anyone?" Did anyone make sense out of any of that Caracas stuff??? That's when I decided the series was becoming unhinged. I almost stopped watching. <p.s. I don't think I gave away anything.> Edited by Trotsky, Dec 19 2013, 02:24 AM.
