I heard this mentioned on the news today and found some things about the area and event online including videos and images. A whale watching industry now flourishes in the area wit hboat tours for those wishing to go out to see the huge Grey whales.

Images from Tofino, mostly a tourist town. Uclulet at the other end of the road is more a working, fishing town.

Tofino videos. Don't think that the water is ever warm there. Do notice the wet suits. Swimming is possible for the young. Once when I mentioned doing so to a friend she said how wonderfully it firmed the body. Yes, I replied, like butter in the fridge! It is possible to have a short fun swim but one needs to get hot in a sheltered spot before doing so. One year I managed to go in 3 times in one day but that was a record breaking hot summer.

Thanks Dana, this is such a beautiful and spiritual place, though it is on my bucket list to go back I doubt it will ever happen.
