Life-changing eye surgery for blind wallaby Posted Image Who is that?: Wahloo the wallaby takes a look at himself after surgery to remove cataracts from his eyes. Everything Wahloo the wallaby sees is a sight for sore eyes, as the young macropod's eyesight clears following life-changing cataract surgery. Having been blinded by the cloudy white cataracts since he was born, the Reikorangi wallaby went under the knife in a New Zealand-first surgery in December. World-renowned eye specialist Craig Irving operated on Wahloo in Palmerston North, removing the cataracts and fluid that was placing pressure behind his eyes. Wahloo's recovery was long and slow, but he is now able to see, although it will never be known exactly how much sight the 19-month-old wallaby has. Source Link |
