Cats on the table

Need opinions, please.

Red and Blue, if they want to stretch out and rest while watching birds, have discovered that the dining room table is more comfortable for dozing/sleeping than the deep window sill near the bird feeder. I have posted a photo of one of them on the sill looking at birds....I think Darcie mentioned having the same chairs?

We seldom use our dining room table - only when Gabe is here and he wouldn't care, or the once or less per month when we have guests for dinner, in which case there would be a tablecloth on the table - right now, we just have placemats - so the cats may not even recognize it as being their now favorite napping place.

I know people keep squirt bottles close at hand for discouraging such behavior, but in this case, should we?

BJ, I had a cat table cloth that was put on the table for the cat to lay on, it was a dining room table as well. I kept the spray bottle for the kitchen counters and the kitchen table that we ate from daily. She did not go there at all.

Your cats are more important than company any day. As long as they dont walk thru the butter, all is good. :)

As long as the cats wash their paws carefully after using the litter box, there should be no harm!

My mother used to swat the cats with a rolled newspaper if the cat got on eating/preparation surfaces. Consequently, they never were on tables when people were around!
