Hmm, I tried it too and had no problem backing out. Seems to be your own particular little problem. |

I guess everything old is new again. A post from 2010, among many as late as this Feb.
This one from 2011 explains it exactly, my History results are screwy too when it comes to Google. I'm having issues with the browsing history when performing google searches with FF 7.0.1 on Win 7
Mine started with the need for a double click byt graduated to not responding to any number of clicks on certain pages...like wikipedia. Is it conspiratorial to believe there is malware going on here...attack on either wiki or google, both big targets? I am going to clear my history. SOmetimes that does interesting things. YAAY, that did it Julie Wison search>>Julie Wilson wiki>> single click back to Julie Wison search. My History was apparently too full to save any more searches. I can either allow more hard drive for history or save fewer days. In fact I will start by deleting any History for my other identity, the one without Administrative privileges. Thank you everyon for taking the time to play with me. :blackbirdyawn: Edited by Trotsky, May 18 2013, 11:45 AM.

Naaah, It's still broken. It only works right if HISTORY is completely empty. If I visit a single other site it then screws up the Search function and gives me a permenent JULIE WILSON. No return to the Google Search results. The quoted poster was correct. History shows a redirect back to the post I am trying to get away from. Tomorrow morning I will set History to use only ZERO Mb. of memory. I'd rather give up History than easy working with Google searches. Perhaps that will fix the glitch. |

Bitsy, Of the 200 threads I have read on the subject, there were about 80 "solutions." I have tried them all...NADA. Best is right click on a Search result and choose either OPEN IN A NEW TAB, or OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW. Alas my instincts take over and I forget. One person's comment intrigued me. He said "I.E. 10 does not have this problem, only I.E. 8 & 9. What site did you download your I.E. 10 from? I am afraid to choose willy nilly lest I get a malware/Trojan/hack, etc.? (I'm surprised my auto-update never proferred the change???) Many people have issues with I.E. 10, running on Win 7. Do you? I presume you are searching from an I.E. address bar and not a GOOGLE Toolbar? Edited by Trotsky, May 19 2013, 03:35 AM.

IE10 was a push update from Microsoft on 3/21.
This is the only issue that I have with IE10 and I still have yet to get it resolved and it is a real pain in the butt. http://s7.zetaboards.com/Worldwide_Seniors/topic/8797442/1/#new
I usually use the Google search bar but in the Julie Wilson search, I used the address bar. |

Internet Explorer has never worked properly from the day it was introduced. Every time I use it I get the message: "Done with errors on the page". That has been happening since day one. |

Delph, It only works ONCE, when History is completely empty after a DELETE HISTORY. But I THINK I found my easiest workaround. If I search JULIE WILSON and hit SHIFT + LEFT CLICK to choose the wikipedia entry it will "open in a new window." Then when I close that choice I am back to the Google search results. All I need do is make sure to form the habit of hitting that shift key with every selection...probably like quitting smoking. (PS. I tried to get History storage to zero as a test and found that IE 9 does not allow you to store less than 8 Mb of History.) Edited by Trotsky, May 19 2013, 11:51 PM.

Hi Trotsky .. re-reading your issue .. and since I have IE8 but do not use it as my default browser, it sounds like your browser may have been hijacked & redirects. How to fix your hijacked browser: http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/browser-hijacking.aspx How did you update your IE .. through microsoft update or you went online and downloaded from there? I use Firefox and it includes Browser Protect. U may wish to save yourself a lot of aggravation and switch to another browser. |

Thanks for the help Toodles. I tried everything suggested...running the MSE full scan (I haven't taken the I.E. 10 yet because I read it is best suited for Windows 8 which I do not have.) But this tip seems to be worth pursuing. Your link recommended:
First visit I "ended" the first and largest and all three disappeared. I searched "Julie Wison", went to Wikipedia entry and got back to the search with a single click of the back. Repeated the process and got stuck on wikipedia. Then tried removing again and only one "ended," two remained no matter what. That is malware, either by Google design (Pay Extra and your site beomes PERMANENT?) or by hacker. <How many instance of Internet Explorer do you see in Task Manager>>Processes>>Internet Explorer? Anyone welcome to try.> If MSE fails to find anything I will have to part with Google after all these years. Does anyone have a "next best" Search engine? But who knows, if the problem is an I.E. hack, there are tens of thousands with the same problem and it probably won't go away with another search engine. Edited by Trotsky, May 24 2013, 01:00 AM.
