THe Tata Nano is a car made in India. It was rolled out with high hopes but sales in India have been disappointing. The cars are VERY cheap and get 66 miles per gallon and have a top speed of 65 mph, fast enough for highways. Zero to 60 in 8 seconds, not much worse than my Hyundai Excel (my last silly car.) Why can WE not buy them? The damn things are $3,000. Are there political forces that are keeping them out of the United States and Canada from whom we hear so much bullshit about FREE MARKETS trumpeted hourly. Does anyone know how they are kept out of Western markets? Posted Image Edited by Trotsky, May 30 2013, 12:28 PM.

Delphi, From the pictures that I have seen, the NANO seems to be very much a 4 wheel vehicle. (It's the top picture, bright yellow, not the little PEELs that I used for illustrating even smaller cars that the U.S. deems streetworthy.) I'd LOVE to take a NANO for a test drive and see what it does for a 6 foot 2 inch guy with a bad back, 102 but I'd rather not pay for a round trip ticket to Calcutta.
