That is a very interesting add but it says nothing about feeding your pigs corn or other feeds that have lots of insecticides and such in them . Why don't they feed organic feeds?

I hope someone can help Margrace to post links. I understand she has a problem doing so, and has repeatedly said so on this forum. (Correct me if I am wrong)

Pat, since you know how to post links would you kindly explain this to Margrace, I think it would help a lot.

Or if it is on the "How To" section of this forum, giving her that link would help.

I have an appointment otherwise I would look on this board to find it if it is there. Last time I looked search wasn't working.

Thanks Pat

Here's a curious Loblaw's story on labeling. They obviously don't want us to excercise a right to choose by removing this info. Looking good in Bangladesh, not so much here at home!

http://m.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/loblaws-orders-gmo-free-labels-removed/article4149208/?service=mobile
"Loblaws, Canada's largest grocery retailer, has ordered its suppliers to remove or cover by Sept. 1 any labels that identify food as being free of genetically modified ingredients.

The move has angered many of the organic food processors that market their breakfast cereals, pastas and other products in the store's health food department as being free of chemical additives and genetically modified material.

Nature's Path Foods Inc., a British-Columbia-based company that produces organic breakfast cereals, said some Canadian grocery chains pressed the company to alter the labels on its products.

The section of the label that says the products are made without genetically modified organisms has been blacked out with a felt pen.

Spokesman Arran Stephens said some large grocery chains warned the company that its products would be yanked from shelves if it didn't remove the reference to genetically modified organisms.

"We've sort of been bullied into this. We feel it's very important that consumers know if their food has been genetically tampered," Mr. Stephens said, but the company didn't want to risk cutting production and laying off employees.

Mr. Stephens noted that independent food stores and grocery chains in the United States welcome the GMO-free labels.

Many suppliers are afraid to criticize the grocery chain publicly because they fear losing shelf space.

But they say privately that they are facing major expense to change labels and could lose sales because consumers won't be able to tell if they are getting non-GMO foods."

Most pigs are raised these days in less than favourable conditions. In mass produced Pig Farming companies Their squalid
environmental conditions in some are horrendous. They are kept in crates or small pens often force fed food with antibiotics and other drugs to promote growth. Living in filthy conditions and we eat all this . Free range pigs that are raised allowing to be outdoors are healthier live better lives and produce better meat. There are a few pig farming operations in my area The smell driving by in summer is horrendous. If we can smell it imagine the pigs living in it. I have stopped buying pork in grocery stores. Maybe Galen Weston should be promoting better living conditions for the animals. seems these chain stores don't do much in helping but are more part of the problem.

Margrace I saw the commercial with the happy family promoting their "pure pork sausages"
