Target in Canada

What do Canadians who have visited the store think of it? I have been in the store in Lindsay Square Mall now 3 times, and I would give it a 10 for spaciousness and cleanliness, and likely much the same for clerks ready to assist. Of course, there seem to have been more clerks than shoppers each time I have been there.

The one thing I noticed was that Campbells Tomato Soup was $1.77 for the 284 ml/10 oz tin. I am wondering if it was just at that particular store, but then again prices come down through a main computer I believe - at least at grocery stores. That price is ridiculous. It was low sodium though so wonder if that makes a difference in price - huge difference.

Take care,
Pat

It is bright and clean. I found the groceries prices not very competitive compared to Super Store or Wal Mart. I also noticed soup prices were quite high.

What surprised me was that the stores are not that big, at least not the ones here. Certain categories of goods were very limited in scope such as hardware.

I do like the wide array of natural cleaning products. Method is especially well stocked. I found a clothes softener in Fresh Air scent which I hadn't seen before.

I do find their prices not at all competitive and the selection is not very big. Don't go there any longer.

I have been in a Target store in Hamilton a few times, only because it has a Starbucks outlet. But it is the worst SB I have ever encountered.

Every time I've been in, they are "just brewing a fresh pot" which always takes 10 minutes. And astonishingly, the coffee is as weak as dishwater.

Hamilton is where Tim Hortons started, and it has more Timmy Ho stores than any other place in Canada, I think. Pretty much one on every corner. One time when I was exiting Target a large crowd of rather rambunctious women, and one guy, walked by. One woman said, "Starbucks. I'd never drink that shit." Each of them then added a piquant insult, and then a couple of them yelled, "Tim Hortons all the way" and they cheered.

A friend and I went to a Starbucks here in London, the coffee was so horrid that we left most of it there and walked out.

I do not darken their door.

A few years ago I was dating a Starbuck's executive from Seattle. He was always sending me the newest flavours. On one of my trips to the States he was drinking tea. He laughed explained he began as a tester at SB After tasting testing swirling in his mouth and spitting he grew to dislike the coffee. Though as a representative of the Company he was obligated to drink. On his off time he never touched the stuff.... food-smiley 010

Target hasn't opened in Niagara yet To me it's just another version of Wal Mart and I can't stand that place.....

I visited Target in Campbell River BC which is a 91,000 sq ft store.
I got tired just walking around the perimiter.

We have a Target that just opened here at West Ed. Mall. It reminds me of Walmart, suffice to say I'm not a fan!

Old Salt do you live in Campbell River? I had the best seafood there on the wharf, while on holiday several years ago. Scallops to die for!

Our Zellers was closed leaving us with only Walmart. A big empty store. I will start saving up and going elsewhere to shop once every few months. Everything else is 100 miles away

I walked through Target a few times but didn't buy anything. The groceries were more expensive than the regular grocery stores and clothes seem to be aimed at young people. Drug store items were about the same price as Walmart and there were more staff than shoppers. The first time I went there were security guards who looked like bouncers at each entrance but not the last time I was there.

That's what I dislike so much about Walmart. So many local businesses shut down as a result of Walmart arriving. We have 2 here.

Wal-Mart is responsible for the closing of so many different types of small independent stores, apparel , shoe, athletic, electronic, books/records, gift, florist and even large grocery stores . I have to now drive 15 miles or more from my home to shop because I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart. Before Wal-Mart saturated my community with stores, I had three nice sized shopping centers with small mom-pop stores that had been in business for years but now these centers are dead.
