Dana, I loved the polar bears clip. Makes me want to continue working on visiting Churchill next Fall - I know that bear watching, similar to whale watching, is not the best thing for these majestic animals but at least I can say I am visiting where I once lived. As a toddler I thought polar bears were 'doggies' - well the ones on a film screen anyway. I believe we did not have the bears entering the town in the in the late 1950's. The biggest fear for parents were the sled and wild dogs. Children could not be left alone. |

Bitsy....I will keep the ipad handy...I fear that is EXACTLY what is going to happen. Last night, I put the turkey carcass in the crockpot in preparation for making our favorite turkey bean soup. This morning, I used my slotted spoon to remove all the solids from the broth, which I placed on a dinner plate on the counter, and while I was putting the crockpot out on the deck to cool so I could scrape off all the fat once it solidified, Blue jumped up on the kitchen counter and began helping himself to the cooked turkey remains..... Soup anyone? |

Just a natural cat, that Blue. :) We will be in TO with family over Christmas so I will not put up a tree. Butter and Ruckus have slaves that come over to amuse them twice a day while we're gone. We leave them a supply of treats and Yowee stinkies and the slaves bring other trinkets to amuse them. |

Trotsky - a suggestion. Think about adopting an older cat. We have a program here called "Seniors for Seniors," as seniors may not outlive younger cats and older cats are really hard to place. I have a friend in NY who every single days posts photos of cats about to be euthanized in NY, most being healthy cats whose owners just abandoned them. We had intended to adopt a senior pair, but the only senior pair at the shelter were already in Kidney failure and the second pair that needed to be adopted together were Red and Blue who were 7 months old. We should have waited, but fell in love....and you all know the rest. Fortunately Gabe and Red made quite a pair over thanksgiving and I thought I was going to have to have Red surgically removed from Gabe's lap... Blue is strictly my cat. |

here all the rescue organizations are desperate for foster families. My daughter has 15 cats in her one bedroom because they need the home and they cant find foster parents for as many as they rescue. I'm sure it is the same where you are. They cover the food and the vet bills and you do a good deed for the cats and for the people in the organization. No pressure. ;) |

Great idea for Trotsky and Bob, Angora. Most shelters do seek foster families for cats. |

I really think I'm too old for a new attachment, especially one who is likely to die on me soon. We just cannot go through that again. We had our hearts torn out when Sybil died.

But you can honor Sybil's memory by giving a home to a kitty who would otherwise likely be killed. At least that has always been my excuse when a beloved feline passes, usually within a week. This time it took two months to pay such tribute to Pandora.....who I still miss every day ... |
