I have received so many calls from this computer generated number, do not answer but today it rang 9 times. I do have my number listed on to no call list, anything else I can do to stop this? |

Darcie, does your Do Not Call registry have a complaint form? I fill one out for every solicitation call that I receive and eventually they stop. On occasion when I do make a mistake an answer a call, I advise them that I am filing the complaint and that also seems to help. Good luck. |

Check with your phone company. My phone allows me to block up to 20 phone numbers by putting in a code and then listing the number. The caller gets a message stating 'this phone is not accepting calls from this number'. |

I have been asked by Toodles to remove the telephone number as someone may inadvertently click on yes, I said I would do so before I realized that I cannot remove a title. Would someone who has the ability to do this please remove the number. I did not realize it was clickable, I can't seem to get it to click for me, anyone else? |

I don't think it was clickable in the body of your post, it was in the title in the same way one can access any other thread; however I have changed the title. According to something found on Google the calls are from Rogers and made to people who have recently changed their service.

Thanks for the information about where they are coming from. I recently cancelled my service and have signed up for new and different problems with Bell. I will be calling them. |

Trouble with call blocking is the capability does not extend to PART of the number: I have been pestered with a raft of calls from 347-502-25xx where the xx is anything from 40 to 99. My phone company will only block 10 calls and will not block the "xx" allowing for 60 to be blocked in one swell foop. I would be happy to block all calls from the 347 area code but not allowed. "Do Not Call" registry has too many loopholes: charities okay, any company with even a vague connection to you is okay, politics, polls...all okay. Our most torture coms from people selling us electricity...and we don't even BUY our own electricity. It's eased to less than one a day this last month, so maybe some action has been taken. I keep the phone beside me and just hang up right away. I know it's annoying but the do not call list doesn't work for me. |

I have call display and simply do not answer and use the delete feature to erase any calls that have an 'unknown name'. If you pick up the phone and hang up they know they have reached you and will kepp trying. Edited by campy, Jun 15 2013, 01:28 AM.

What happens if you DON'T hang up on a call like that? Does it hold the line so the caller can't use it? I had a row with a telemarketer who wouldn't stop calling and threatened to keep his phone line busy. He threatened to call me in the middle of the night. And there were no more calls. |

Sorry but the phone number was clickable on the subject line otherwise I would not have asked to have it removed. I could not get past the redirect to remove it myself. It led me to Skype to make a phone call and click on yes. I tried to get past it several times. Placing a non clickable phone number for discussion in the body of a post is fine but is a security breach if used as a topic and it is clickable. My request was for member safety and no other reason. Thank you. |

You seem to know a lot about this Toodles, would you kindly explain to me why it was clickable for you and not for me? |

No I cannot explain it for you as I am not privy to the preferences you have set up for your computer security nor software you use. My computer is set for very high security protection, appropriate software is used, because I roam the internet extensively and because I check links, URL's, etc. on all forums where I am part of staff. Darcie - I would not have notified you had this not happened as there would be no reason to do so. I am very computer security conscious and I use my knowledge to protect the members on this board as much as I can - unfortunately it may result in some members having to be corrected to make them aware. Thank you. |
